  • Firmly yes (I love what I'm seeing)

  • Leaning yes

  • Can't decide either way

  • Leaning no (but don't sack him yet)

See I think he speaks well, and I like the 'team first' mantra stuff. Its game day where he fails.
I find the issue is he leans back on the same lines so frequently that it starts to ring as inauthentic and like he did a leadership training course and got told to say those things.

Thats a fair point.

I reckon if the players find his onfield message isnt getting through which would be the case, then the rest of the messages fall away. If we start poorly again next year I can foresee him losing his job before the bye.

If i were a prospective coach looking for a gig, this one might be on the market soon enough.

You listen to some other coaches and they captivate you with what they say, how they think etc. There's something there, some real substance.

You want to hear more, you will take the time to click and listen to an interview/presser they've done.

Nicks is just, eh.
Exactly as you said above.
But every one of them at the club is like that really. And like they're just workers there doing their job.

Nicks is aptly named... he has Nix.

He has no substance because unfortunately he is not smart enough to be a senior coach.

It really is that simple thaf he doesn't have what it takes.

What is more concerning is the idiots who made the decision to extend him can't see this... so they are clearly incapable of making good decisions.

Can anyone remember who the short list was of coaches that we were looking at in 2019?
i know Yze was one, who were the others?
Nicks beat two pairs of assistant coaches at Victorian clubs, Hawthorn's Scott Burns and Adem Yze, and Collingwood's Robert Harvey and Garry Hocking, Richmond's Adam Kingsley having pulled out of the running before the process cranked up to full-bore interviewing.

Surely Buddha isn't in the mix when senior roles become available.

Let's not overlook the facts

Nicks: Met with Lukosius
Chooses Port

Tex: Sells the club to Cumming
Chooses us

I’m certainly not here to defend Nicks, but I don’t think we can read much into this. If I’m Lukosius then I’d definitely see Port as the better fit. At this point in his career he needs continuity in selection and in his role. I don’t know whether he prefers to play forward or back, but either way, Port makes more sense.

They have two injury prone young key forwards, and Dixon has retired. Our two key forwards of the future are pretty settled and Walker is going around another year. Their main rebounding defender is likely leaving, while we have pretty good depth in that position and are adding another type of that player in Cumming.

Obviously the money is a factor, but clearly it’s not the be all and end all for Lukosius, given he’s willing to accept less. I don’t know there’s a lot we could have done to convince him.

I’ve been as critical of the club as anyone this year, but we’ve recently brought in Dawson, Rankine and now ANB and Cumming, this is one area we actually seem to have improved in as a club.

You know the same people that coddle Nicks are going to throw tantrums when potential trades nominate another club because they don't want to play under a loser coach. They won't make the connection.
So tell me, what about those players that DO come to us… despite the loser coach?
