Totally agree, i loved it in context. I enjoyed the fight immensely and looking foward to the replay. I dont under stand the negativity here

And on the Sugar Ray/Duran/Hagler/Hearns era, that was the perfect entree to our own golden era. So spoilt we were back then.
My only complaint is that Floyd and Manny didn't fight a long time ago. I understand that boxing is a business but I just wish there was a proper system like most sports; where you can't just pick and choose who you want to challenge.

Duran, the hands of stone. What a frightening era that must have been.

I don't really follow boxing, but are the 'points' just the number of punches they land? Are certain punches worth more than others eg. head shot vs body shot?

I thought Mayweather controlled the match from start to finish, with a round or two where Manny looked like he was starting to get on top. Thought Floyd was the clear winner, surprised to see people think otherwise.

Nah amateur boxing is where punches score "points". Pro boxing is judged subjectively on clean punching, defence, ring generalship and effective aggression. If the judge feels a fighter won the round, they give them 10 points of the round and the opponent 9 points for the round. If they absolutely dominate the round, 10 points and 8 points for the opponent. If there is a knockdown, 10-8... two knockdowns, 10-7 etc.

Floyd is so hard to beat because he always dominates the clean punching, defence and ring generalship criteria.

Pacquiao had Mayweather on the ropes getting peppered with punches a few times. Had him backed into a corner and rocked his face with some serious power. There was one point Pacman had him completely locked up and I thought a knock-out was on the cards.

Mayweather never did that to Manny. He just defended and got the win. Pathetic.

This was the consensus amongst most at the pub, clearly alot of people who dont watch boxing.

Not singling you out or having a go at you but flurries that don't land might look exciting but they dont count. Manny may as well have been shadow boxing by himself cause all he hit was air.

It was a fairly dull fight but Mayweather won, easily at that. You dont win fights for being the better guy. Alot of fighters say they dont know who was winning etc so i believe Manny when he says he thought he was winning but his corner should have told him otherwise cause everyone knew he was losing.

Sure but youre a FLoyd lover . 118-110

Actually I don't really care for boxing at all anymore, just watch MMA for the most part. Would have preferred Manny to win considering he isn't a shit bloke.

I just understand how scoring works unlike seemingly many on here.

Too many people jumping on the pac bandwagon who have probably never seen a fight and think what he did actually got him the win. Seriously he was completely outclassed. I gave pac I think either 2 or 3 rounds. Mayweather is one of if not the greatest defensive boxers of all time and he out that in display today.

Calling 118-110 too wide doesn't really make sense when there are so many close rounds. You either win the round or you don't. You can get a score of 120-108 and still have a really close fight...

Agree, but Pacquiao clearly won more than 2 rounds in my opinion. All irrelevant though because there was a clear winner.

Im sraight like a freeway, i dont go MMA

but Pac won rounds 3-4-6-12, clear as day

the rest where 50/50

Why all the haters i had it 116/112 people need to educate themselves how boxing scoring works
Boxing stats from the fight had money winning easy
Landed more punches and landed more power punches
Cant argue with facts

No expert but 115-113, closer than i thought the first time

how u did score ODL v whitaker?

Fight went pretty much more or less as I expected. I'm a Pacquiao fan, but I thought Floyd won at least 7 rounds.

Floyd was being typical Floyd and Manny was not as sharp as usual, but then again he has been on the slow decline for a while now. I can completely understand why casual and new fans can think Pacquiao won, but going by how boxing is scored, Mayweather clearly won that fight.

Now I don't know a whole lot about boxing and how the scoring works but how do you win a fight without throwing any punches?
He hit him nearly 150 times. Were you just watching Pacs gloves?

Mayweather is a flog but clearly out boxed him today. This decision was easy. You can't get hit 60 more times and think you won the fight.
