Golly gosh this thread is a time capsule for overreactions.
Scarcely finding something that isn't over the top.
What nonsense. What club sacks its coach for making PF's.
We have been sh*t tonight, no denying it but Scott's position is as safe as houses.

People need some damn perspective. We are failing at a hurdle 15 clubs are envious of merely making it to.

Its gonna be months of this......
Game plan needs rework as does the midfield. Thats where it's all happened. Haven't been able to lock it down so you can't blame the defence or the forwards at all for this one.

Such an incredibly meek and mentally weak team come finals.

I'm fine with Scott. But there are tweaks to be made to what we do. First cab off the rank is Scarlett needs to take a significant step down in what we do as a football club.

I'm convinced he thinks that himself and his backline won us those flags and that guys like Stevie J and Ablett had nothing to do with it. Get out of here. You need players that can actually win you games as well, and that includes the backline.

I’ve never disliked anything about Melbourne as they’ve been irrelevant for so long.
Until tonight.

J.Viney is a ******* and plays for free kicks more than our leader

5 for the night, so far
I find that getting completely humiliated in a preliminary final is always a good reason to hate the opposition :shoutyoldman:

Ok, we have been absolutely pantsed. Yes, we have finished top 4, but this is embarrassing.

The club have got some big decisions to make in the off season. Who stays, who goes?
Needs to be done

Won’t be done!

Mad Monday

Summer holidays

Business as usual in 2023

In all seriousness the coach killer talk is laughable, you don't get coach killing games in a bloody prelim final, hell given the injuries and messed up quarantine we'll prob see the Dogs lose by this much tomorrow night too

I think most would tire of continually making the top 4 but then doing nothing in finals ever time.

2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021 top 4 finishes and no GF.
2020 a top 4 finish for a GF.

Look at that ****ing record. Just look at it. 7, seven top 4 finishes, many in the top 2. 6 prelims. One - in a compromised season with shortened quarters - GF. 3 absolute beltings in PFs.

How many coaches would get sacked for that? No one else has done it. No one has had that many chances and blown every single one. It is unprecedented so any treatment of the coach would be similarly unprecedented. Of people who have coached a similar numbers of finals, he has, by a tremendous margin, the worst finals record. A H&A king, a finals dud. If you're cool with seeing your team constantly lose finals, awesome. He's great. If you want the side to perhaps achieve something one day, then time to move on.

We've gone with a gameplan that demands absolute mental composure and elite ball skill.

Unfortunately, we do not have elite ball skills, and are mentally fragile under pressure.

Put simply, the gameplan asks for more than the players can deliver. That's exacerbated by a list that is also older and slower.

Even the best sides skill / mental wise would struggle to execute it in a big GF. Hawthorn maybe, but they also could win contested ball.

Some of our losses in the last month have been some of our very worst in such a long time. This is going to be the worst of them. I really feel that this is the end of our dynasty. I hope we learn from this, rejuvenate our list with some younger players, clear the deadwood and reset for 2022. It’s going to be a tough year next year

This is what happens when a club instills so much self belief in the coach and number of players well past their use by date.
They have never bothered listening to outside noise or criticisms. Hell' even the coach is on record saying they do not spend time looking back on previous games as it's all about the future. It's no wonder we never learn when the finals begins.

Shame . . . .it's far too late for change.
This list is going to be hanging on for dear life next year.

The perverse part of this is that I'm actually enjoying watching Melbourne play.
I wish we weren't the sacrificial lamb tonight, but they are so bloody exciting.
Except for Ben Brown.
Hes like the end piece on a loaf of bread. You understand why its there, and it serves a fundamental purpose, but it's the very last piece you eat, and you make sure as hell you let those around you know you arent happy about it.
