The perverse part of this is that I'm actually enjoying watching Melbourne play.
I wish we weren't the sacrificial lamb tonight, but they are so bloody exciting.
Except for Ben Brown.
Hes like the end piece on a loaf of bread. You understand why its there, and it serves a fundamental purpose, but it's the very last piece you eat, and you make sure as hell you let those around you know you arent happy about it.

We used to play like them once.

I’ve never been one for the “clean out” thoughts. But here I am.

Welcome, many of us have been waiting for this, finally we might actually see the decision makers wake up to the need for a new coach, new blood, and a new strategy, so that the club can finally play to win, and not just to make finals for selling memberships and sponsorships.

We have processes but nothing’s perfect.

There's some idiot on The Bay mass tagging Geelong posters into comments but apparently nothing can be done as it's "the bay" - even though they're tagging posters not involved in those threads or who venture to the bay

Scott ain’t gonna fu** u mate. What’s the point of bending over hard for him?

He’s developed a bunch of pea hearted campaigners that fold in finals every year?
and your avatar is one of those peahearts..
The must be so envious of being absolutely smashed in finals. Just stfu.
Do you realise the 20 year ride we've been on, when the system tries to make it no more than maybe 3-4 at most.
We have had it damn good for a long long time and people are melting because we're getting beat in the last 4 teams left in the comp.

Come on now.
There needs to be a clear distinction between being upset at the result, which we all are, and going overboard with calls to sack the coach and all but about 3 players should be gone or tradable.

That simply isn't happening is it. Coach is nowhere near being at risk of getting sacked and 90% of the playing group will be here next season.

There has to be fallout from this ...

We don't have finals players like the good old days.

And whilst we keep staying up and keep getting almost there ... it shows just how hungry and powerful those in their mid 20's have over grizzled and gnarled veterans.

We needed a window in between the likes of the Tigers and then Melbourne/Port Adelaide ... but it wasn't there.

Time to clean out a few and do a small restock of those younger ones that could be driven and can stand up to the pressure of finals.

If that means a couple of years outside the 8 then so be it.

Menegola, Blicavs, Henderson, Rohan ... can't play finals.

Selwood, Danger don't have the young guys around them that are willing to be big game players. Selwood and Danger are not the game winners any more though either.

Miers just does my head in.

A small reset next year. SDK/Krueger in. Find a FA/RFA mid that has power and speed x 2.

Find speed with poise to compliment Stewart as a small in the back half.

Possibilities abound but Geelong needs to hit the list hard and prepare again. We've seen Port do similar and come back hard. If we are great then it's time to show it by being courageous enough to cull those that can't do an effing thing in September.

It's a sad way to end the season. To go out with a whimper and not a bang. The side is kaput and really needs a serious rebuild now. The team has too many old players who are being made to look foolish by the young guns of Melbourne. The club needs a full-on football department review and coaches and players need to be let go and we should start hitting the draft. I've heard in the media that we Geelong supporters should be so grateful for the success our club has had and the finals we've played. But how can we be grateful if we're constantly led to getting our hopes up only to be dashed again and again? The Dees deserve their spot in the GF. Good luck to them. We don't deserve to be in the top 4.

Its gonna be months of this......
Game plan needs rework as does the midfield. Thats where it's all happened. Haven't been able to lock it down so you can't blame the defence or the forwards at all for this one.
Hear hear.
