The goal should be getting enough members so that we don’t have to let any oppo supporters in.

Not the same but we have enough members now that sellout games have up to 5 k less than max capacity because not every member shows up to every game. Since we sold out all but two games there were time when we certainly had less in attendance due to seat being reserved but not used.

Some members may have become accustomed to no bus lines after games when we had 17k members and were getting pumped by 20 goals every week. Those times were bliss.

I much prefer the bliss of winning Premierships in front of full stadiums.

The Gabba replaced the 2 video screens in 2018 which reduced seating
Then in 2020 changes to media and corporate facilities reduced the capacity further.
The biggest Gabba crowd since then was the 2023 QF v Port being 36,020 followed by the PF v Blues 36,012
So, from this i will assume the Gabba capacity is now 36k.
35,660 attended the Blues final this year so it appears people will turn up at finals when they have just paid for tickets.

However, during the year members have already either paid up front or by the month for their membership.
During the season it is like out of sight out of mind so to speak.
Then family/social engagements happen, sickness and for corporates it is just another game they have to find someone interested in AFL to offer tickets to, even then will they turn up. Then you have the Cricket club that probably don't have the urgent need to attend unless it is against a top side or a final.

I missed a few also this year due to ill health early in the season.
My daughter got her mother the go with her on 3 occasions.
She went overseas also, so at those times i offered the seats back to the club.
Did not even get a food voucher that they gave people the previous year.

Only missed a couple of Gabba games over the last 20+ years, I time my trekking or holidays for away games or the off season.

I received a couple of $10 Lions shop vouchers for the times they asked for member returns.

But the rest of the times I returned my seat, I didn’t receive anything.

That's a bit poor.
Ok , I do understand the club has a bit of admin to do when tickets are recycled , but hey, you deserve some incentive , otherwise why bother giving them back.
They already have your money.
And they sold single game tickets for inflated prices depending on the match.

Failed there, and also failed trying to get tickets to Adelaide v Geelong. Anyone have any wins this morning? Ticketek has been disgraceful the last couple of days.

I was able to get a GA ticket to our game against the Bulldogs via the members sale yesterday, but had a real devil of a time trying to get a couple of general public tickets today. Failed there, and also failed trying to get tickets to Adelaide v Geelong. Anyone have any wins this morning? Ticketek has been disgraceful the last couple of days.

I didn’t want to buy any tickets to our game, but I tried clicking on the link to look at tickets and it didn’t even work

My niece got a call today from the Lions Membership.
They advised they could not fulfill her seat change (4) request.
Luckily their 4 old seats were still available to take back which they did.

Surely they wouldn’t take you out of your old seats until they know if they can fulfil a move.

They say they do otherwise there won't be lots of available seats.
But what they do in practice may be a different matter

Say just 250 want to move x 2 seats that's 500 seats if they hold them back.
These possible held back seats may be where others have requested a move to.
The number requesting a move could of course be on a much bigger scale than 250 x 2.

Remember they just jacked up prices in two categories so there may have been a bigger number requesting a move this year compared to a normal year.
The Deluxe category had members seats jumping up 2 price categories plus an overall increase while sitting in the same seats.
Deluxe also had a built in $100 September membership whether you wanted it or not.

Ended up with 3 tickets (thanks to a Dog's mate membership). 80% chance of going otherwise will be offloading them for free to someone on here.

Ticketek sucked.

They wrote back saying "nah that's fine, here's your assigned seat". But that was a manually written email... I imagine they will do some sort of automated bulk email for most members.

They also didn't have my bar code ready when I went to pick up my Gather Round tickets the other day. But they were pretty responsive on Facebook Messenger (even before 10am AEST when the phone line opens) so that was pretty good.

Certainly a lot better than the time spent in the Ticketek queue
