List Mgmt. Mid-Season Draft - Who do we take?

Why? We won’t play him. If we are to take someone they need to be able to impact and come straight into the team. Like VFL/SANFL/WAFL best and fairest types ala Tim Kelly. Has to be someone out there like that.

Why do they need to play straight away?

Take an example of Shane McAdam in 2018 - if we identified him as a need, then we could have drafted him mid-season 2018, then he'd have 9 months of AFL training under his belt by the time 2019 rolled around (instead of 4), and could've hit the starting 22 running. As it is now, he hasn't got the AFL tank.

Getting a jump on the 2019 ND is also a strategy to look at.

Few worth a look here, mostly players that missed out on last year's draft or the year before.Several players that played in last year's Young Guns game were drafted in the 2018 draft but now with the mid season draft I feel even more will get a look in.

Teams courtesy of AFL Draft Central's Peter Williams.

Bolded those amongst who I'd think worth a look with our list in mind. Have to admit Stefan Radovanovic is a personal favourite of mine, impressed me every time I saw him play either running off half back or through the midfield....and built like a brick outhouse with great explosiveness.

How many selections will we have in this draft?
At this stage it would be only 1 wouldn't it? (Doedee on LTI list) Unless we have someone else out for the season?

What about the big unit mentioned on AFL.com? Jack Blair. 23 Year old Rugby convert. 205 cm and 112 kg. Category B option. Currently training with Swans.
Given we picked up a string bean developing ruck last year, I couldn't see us grabbing another developing ruck, but not impossible.

Would probably prefer a player who missed recent drafts but has shown significant development since. Someone likely to get a chance in this years draft that we can grab early. This is where your recruiters could earn their $$$.

I don’t think Cat B anymore...

The bolter might be 205cm ruckman Jack Blair, who started playing football last year for AFL Sydney club UNSW-Eastern Suburbs before crossing to SANFL side North Adelaide.

AFL.coms take on mid season draft..

What about Jaksch. Was a pick 12 (I know that doesn't mean a whole lot) but possibly someone who's worth a punt?
Pick 12 7 year's ago that hasn't played an AFL game since 2016 and couldn't get a game at Carlton when delisted in 2017?

Is a 25 year 195cm Key Forward that's been playing Ammos for the last 2 years really a list need with Elliot Himmelberg and Darcy Fogarty waiting in the wings for regular AFL exposure?

I'd much sooner look at KPD's Kyle Reid or James Blanck as a list area that needs some back up IMO with Talia getting on a bit and having some difficulty getting up from week to week, Hartigan being Hartigan, Andy Otten also getting on and lacking pace and mobility....that only leaves Jordan Butts who plays more like a mobile 3rd tall interceptor.

Even Daly Andrews who's a very quick and agile outside mid who plays with plenty of dare and with a very penetrating kick could fill a real need with outside speed and run and carry given we lack a bit in that area IMO....David Mackay currently our go to guy?

Riley Bowman IMO would be a major upgrade on Paul Hunter with his Ruck/Forward potential, personally I think he's one over ager that will have some really serious interest come the mid season draft.

Hows Jackson Edwards Fairing these days? I'll admit I did not see his delisting coming. Thought he was a bit stiff to miss out on another year on the rookie list.

Anyone think he will get another go at the level?

Ask the Spotswood Ammos FC supporters that follow the Western Region Football League they should be able to fill you in.

Jackson's got a gig in the Young Guns game on Saturday morning at the seaside Trevor Barker Oval so he has the opportunity to impress the recruiters who will no doubt be in attendance if they're early risers. ;):shoutyoldman:

Seriously though several of the players that played in last year's Young Guns got drafted this year and with the upcoming mid season draft now also another opportunity I'm sure there's a good chance players in this game will have plenty of interest from recruiters even if only to get a head start on the opposition clubs before this year's National and rookie drafts.

Luke Bogle is an interesting one, a big bodied mid that can find plenty of the pill, clearance specialist, plays like Matt Crouch. By the looks hasn't played any SANFL this season as yet, don't know what's going on there. Thought he was a real smoky in last year's draft with his ball winning and toughness.

Is Ogilvie behind this?!

I was suspicious of that too, so had a bit of a dig around. It seems that he moved to Geelong's reserves for the 2018 season to have another crack at getting listed. He's playing at Lauderdale (Hobart) now so I'm assuming that didn't work. It could be Ogilvie or could just be Sam hoping to be drafted again.

Did he do his ACL last year?
