Having Wright come home gives good indication of talks with carlton for a while. Really interested if there is any way we will make a trade with carlton work while getting a decent best 22 player in return.

I say this because i thought we were getting a back up ruck with pruess and that has dissipated.

How can a trade with carlton help get a player?

Over the draft pick & mature player debate
Getting Wright home didn't require us to talk to Carlton!

It doesn't indicate a single thing.

Bitter after Gibbs got traded to the Crows and supposedly on more money than him, he saw what Lever, Cameron and his brother got offered a year latter and Teague (Crows forward-line coach) unexpectedly return back home who he was close to so a bit of both.
Fremantle did offer him $700K per year for 5 years which he rejected last year but that was supposedly only $50K difference per year which isn't that much but $150K is...

You've just summarised every rumour, radio talk back BS, and journo tweet.
So you don't actually know the real reasons.

Coke Zero maybe. Becoming quite the collectors item now they’ve moved to the inferior Coke No Sugar.
From a Marketing perspective Coke Zero was a good product positioning ...."Coke No Sugar" is simply cutting their own throat .......the company has made gaff after gaff the last 20 years

Like McDonalds trying to shift to healthy foods like salad bars :p:p:p:p

Firstly,Jade Robran would be a great inclusion to the AA drive team IMO

Secondly, I'm not saying Pick 1 is what Mitch is worth, but i wonder if the deal could be made were Carlton move back in the draft and the Crows secure pick 1.

I'm sure the Crows would have to give some pretty good compo on the way back, but why would SOS rule it out completely if it gets the player they want?

Is pick 1 really worth that much to a team like Carlton?

Carlton have 2 picks in the 20s. Its their job now to find a way of turning those into a mid first rounder otherwise gov will be sent elsewhere.
Its not our job to do the heavy lifting. If carlton want gov they need to work something out with another club and come to us once they have a decent pick.

This is where the club saying they want Luk and are prepared to make it happen will now look stupid.

Yeah, the club never said that. We said we were interested in him, as everyone was.

“Our recruiting staff of Justin Reid, Hamish Ogilvie and the crew, they’re certainly bullish about some of the players in this year’s draft, including some of the South Australian kids and Jack’s one of those,” Fagan told SEN Afternoons.

“Clearly he has immense talent and they’re looking at every option, not just for Jack, but for a bunch of those top end talents.

“There’s a lot to play out between now and draft night. Ultimately, just like any other list management team, they will have their two different options that will have a series of assumptions built into them.

“Let’s confirm that he is someone that we would love to see at the football club and we certainly enter the draft in a strong position with regards to our picks that we hold.”

I hope that you don’t take offence to this (not trolling) but I can see that maybe the Shiel opportunity may cost us getting McGovern as well. I would prefer taking mcadam and grigg with the mature picks and get Shiel with our future first. McGovern may have been worth a top 10 pick two years ago even last year but after 2018 he’s probsbly only worth a late first early second. Particularly due to the strong draft (despite being contracted). We’d be silly to offer anything better as he’s not really something we need. If he was draft eligible right now he probably wouldn’t get picked till after that too. Who would you guys take right now if given the choice:
Lukosius
Rankine
Hately
Rozzee
McGovern

He goes last in that 5. Which is why I don’t get the pick 1 talk. Surely you all rate lukosius higher than McGovern despite being 48 games in.

Not trolling isn’t any better than not informed

I've seen plenty bag Carlton posters trade suggestions, and admittedly some are ridiculous, yet you have posters like you equally ridiculous saying it will cost a top 3 pick...seriously.
You’re right that is a ridiculous suggestion.

His value is less than that, but his price is what the AFC decide to sell him for. He is contracted so any deal needs to be sufficient to incentivise AFC to allow him to break that contract.

So he may be priced at his value, or he may be priced above his value. But in no way should he be priced below his value, which means suggestions that set his price too high are far more realistic than those that set his price too low.

Watch closely you may learn something. SOS always gets what we want.

Interesting. Seems to me SOS is borderline incompetent and hanging onto his job by his fingernails. Not sure he has EVER delivered what you really want/need

Given the **** fest he left at GWS and the shit show at princes park he may be the worst in the comp

We can allocate what we feel is a fair value. Of course so can you. But there will need to be middle ground. I doubt you’ll be getting what you all on here believe to fair coz no club is paying a top 10 pick for him. And I doubt he will be playing with you guys in 2019. Look at the Jake stringer deal for comparison. And he’s no name atringer either. So expect an early second or maybe 2 mid seconds at best.

Stringer is a bad comparison, considering their coach basically ran him our of the club.

Charlie Cameron is close. Only had one year left on his deal and a less valuable position, so assume maybe a 15% bump for McGovern.

Look, I don't think we're being unreasonable. I think it's a pick around 10, plus some steak knives.

In the last 10 years, Richmond has won 112 games vs the Blues 86, played 5 finals series vs 4, played 8 finals vs 5, won 4 finals vs 2, 1 premiership vs 0, and 0 wooden spoons vs 2.

Since 2001 you have managed to win 12 games twice, the Tigers have managed it 5 times.

Other than a brief period of competence in the early noughties you have been helpless for nearly 20 years.

You and your nasty facts

You ended up valuing him at pick 7 btw. Take into account point value for all the picks included.

Agreed. We're probably not expecting quite that for McGovern.

Actually, a higher pick and we throw back the steak knives

BTW, who uses steak knives these days? If you need them, haven't you just burnt the sh*t out of crappy meat?
