Saw that and laughed out loud. Maybe it's all this talk of recruiting mature players fro SA and WA has them trying to recreate the vibe of 1986 all over again.

Look at the state they're in today. Honestly, if you were them, why WOULDN'T you want to recreate that 80s vibe instead?

Young says Gov nominates Carlton.

A player not a free agent and is contracted for 2 more years, can apparently "nominate" a new club.

Pendulum needs to swing back to clubs. Players getting a good ride here. Only a matter of time.

Dont care what happens to Gov if it leads to great young talent into the club

I just can't see how Carlton can get this done TBH

I wont be surprised if he stays or is forced to consider another trade option

I'm happy to keep him and revisit it in 12 months time. He'll be of more use to us next year than draft picks, even if he's disgruntled.

In all seriousness you should consider moving one of your KPD's on as it's the one position you are heavily stocked in (Weitering, Marchbank, Macreadie, Jones, Rowe plus Plowman and Silvagni as third talls).

You'd get decent draft currency moving on either Weitering or Marchbank as well as giving Macreadie more opportunity.
... you did see that, during this season, we had every single player on that list you've just provided out with injuries at one point or another, yeah?

And Rowe's a season away from retirement, whilst Jones is courting chaosball as frequently as he does something incredible. In reality - given that I don't see Jack Silvagni as a defender, unless you were referring to Alex who has just retired - our KPD stocks are Weitering, Marchbank, Macreadie, Plowman, with Jones being the lone holdout from the older brigade. We're good, but trading some out isn't necessarily a great idea.

he is not in a Carlton jumper just yet

remeber he is not out of contract or a free agent
Add to that, that he is going to be mightily unhappy if Carlton can't now satisfy the crows in a trade. All this bravado from Carlton supporters that they will simply walk away is garbage as they are offering a mega deal up to 5 years to get him. Crows can be as bold as they want to be on this as they hold all the aces

Lets just get it done. Sounds like a bit of a trouble maker and you dont need cancer like that around the club. We will be better with him gone even if we get a shit sandwich for him.
Im over it already

Yeah it's unfathomable, isn't it, even with big $s involved?

If McGovern's right about Adelaide's "direction" (read: what they're prepared to pay him) then all of the other top players who've re-signed (Sloane, Laird, Doedee etc) are wrong,
OR
he's just a money-hungry grub.
Does anybody in here know Mcgov well enough to comment about his real reasons?

People can look at the same things differently.

Maybe MM has seen/experienced how poorly Burton & Hass have handled/caused injuries and he has no faith they can turn it around.

Maybe he dislikes the direction our coaching panel is heading.

Who knows, however from an outsiders point of view it is very easy to see how someone could become jaded with our current setup - not saying everyone would but different strokes for different folks.

Why are you surprised a player with 2 more years on his contract can nominate a club when Gibbs nominated you the last 2 years running? You should be well aware by now...

Most interesting thing for me is Young has clearly stated his contract with us in terms of money is similar to what he's getting with you guys...

Which is a shock since previous reports said we're offering up to $200k more a year and posters here have been slandering him as only choosing us for the money...seems all that wasn't true.

Player managers aren't exactly the most trust worthy people, but Young wouldn't flat out lie like that publicly when he'd so easily be caught lying.

Also saying that Freo were offering $1 million more and he turned them down, so sounds like they were the ones offering extra $200k over 5 years, not us. And therefore McGovern isn't just chasing dollars as previously accused.
