Traded Mitch McGovern [traded to Carlton in a three-way trade involving Sydney and McAdam]

If I was Reid, I'd run a repeat of the Cameron trade i.e. just set a high price, sit back and wait it out. Carlton won't want to miss out on two high profile trades in one year.

This psychology is absolutely right. We can't afford to miss out on MM. We need the "win" after we have missed out on Shiel and as Reid knows we need a goal scoring forward desperately to reward our forward 50 entries. Plus MM is one of the Crows best players, virtually irreplaceable for his clean marking and ability to play forward or back.

SOS is over a barrel and Reid knows it. Plus MM is still a contracted player so no deal, Crows don't care. We will need to offer our 2018 pick 1 for the Adelaide first rounder to get this deal done. No question.

Sure, we weren't going to offer GWS that pick but that was then. This is now and we really need MM to improve us for next year if we want to develop at all.

:)

Said no one (who wasn't a Crows rusted on) ever.

IM not fused either way, can stay a crow for all I care if we don't get enough, infact probably better than trading for a packet of chips

I agree.

However his value may diminish if he wants out that badly.

I still think he gets to Carlton but I have no idea how it gets done. Maybe a very late deal.
Cameron wanted out too and his value didn't diminish.

Hypothetically, if you're going to get a shit deal from Carlton anyway, you may as well roll the dice and keep him. Nothing to lose. It's up to Carlton to come up with a deal good enough to sway them otherwise.

Wow that Shiel trade really rustled your jimmies.

No, like immediately falling, what was it, 12 ladder positions?
Like Geelong and Richmond and Dogs before they won a flag? A Blip, a mere inconvenience. Am I happy? Nope but I dont see culture issues. I see other issues that annoy me but toxic morale ? Nope

Yep, that would be it. Your psychological insight is profound. You're a professional right?

The Blues came motherless last this year and had more games lost to injuries from listed players than any other club. Superficially we should be about as attractive as a squashed crow on the highway (if you will forgive the metaphor).

Now we have MM (an absolute star of the Crows, worth at least 2 firsts) and Setterfield (admittedly an injured hack, but hey even you would agree he has some pretensions to becoming a footballer) both seeking to come to us. But yeah, I've messed my jimmies cos we didn't get Shiel. You must think I live in as rich a fantasy as you apparently do.

geeez theres a lot of going round in circles.
what do adelaide supporters think is fair and reasonable? at the lower end of what you value him at
Its difficult. Depends on who wants who out

An example. You knock on my door and ask me how much to sell you my house. I'm not giving you the low price. If I come to you though then yes I will take whatever is reasonable. Its not a give away either.

Uncontracted then right now the lowest is a late 1st rounder

I don't need a psychology degree to see you're salty. I'm getting hardening of the arteries just reading your posts.

Very reasonable. Now for facts.

1. Carlton did NOT knock on your door and ask to buy your house. To stretch your inadequate metaphor the house said it wanted the Blues to live in it, not you.

2. A late 1st rounder is at least equal to or less than one of our low second rounders plus McAdam. With perhaps some trimmings either way that is the deal.

3. The result would be a win for the Crows as:

(a) they are losing a player of a type they have great depth in - Lynch, Ottens, Himmelberg, Kelly + McAdam himself.

(b) they are getting reasonable compensation in a supposedly strong draft for the risk that McAdam is not, long term, as good or better than MM.

(c) you don't have a player on your list who objectively is not happy to be there.

4. The result would be a win for the Blues as we do not need more chances at draft roulette - we have enough invested in that already. We do need ready to go AFL footballers and MM is certainly that.

5. The result would be a win for MM, obviously.

Ok, off you go and do the deal that gets us that late 1st rounder. Its not up to us to do the renovations once you move in

Forgot to add on the fact that you need to pay a premium for a player with 2 years on his contract. So bump that low second rounder +McAdam up a bit more and we'll all be able to agree on these 'facts'.

No I didn't. Reread how it is a win-win-win and then get back to me.

Where do you mention the need to pay 'overs' for a contracted player?

I didn't.

What I did was explain the advantages in doing a deal to the 3 parties involved. I do not see any relevance to the so-called need to pay overs IN THAT CONTEXT.

Tell me why my win-win-win analysis is wrong because it fails to address this so called need and, sure, it becomes a negotiating factor. Until then. No.

Firstly, you don't even know what type of player McGovern is, and what he can do, do you? Only Himmelberg and he are playing the same role. If you'd mentioned Walker, Jenkins, Fogarty and Himmelberg you'd be a lot closer.

Also, I'm 99.9% certain McGovern will be a better player than McAdam. Already has a 50 game headstart and a decent highlight reel.

Not worth my time if you can't see it already. As I have already pointed out, you don't even know what type of player McGovern is. How can you know his value?
