With the recently announced redevelopment of memorial drive, including a roof, could this be used as the new shed. Seems somewhat more is line with what I seem to recall the early promise may have entailed anyway
Now that would be awesome if we could hire out that space after games and for away games!

Used to enjoy going to the aquatic centre with my family growing up (before the latest refurb when they still had all the palm trees and rocks inside). Drinking beers in the spa while watching the footy on a big screen in the middle of winter would be pretty sweet.

Jack Watts could be our first pool member.

That puts AFC in a great position to make a move that suits them. Wouldn't want to wait until the lease is nearly up to then start looking at where to go as options may not be many and be forced to accept something less than ideal.

The Aqua site has an adjacent oval (which I hadn't known about) already there so we wouldn't be removing any current parkland features, and there's enough space to create an MCG sized oval there easily. The site is a relatively short distance down Jeffcott street to Adelaide Oval.

So much going for it to be new Crows home - it might be the only viable near CBD location for this.

Surely from this location a direct underground tunnel to the change rooms with some kind of monorail would be a no brainer.
Maybe a parallel pedestrian tunnel with two way travelator to our function centre as well.

Good work, will they allow us to cut down trees though? More would need to go as well to create some space around the oval
I would guess they would, especially for a multi-million development - think they're mostly not very large (?) scrubby trees anyway. And it's in an area next to a major roadway, not like the "boutique" area around Adelaide Oval.

Is the idea just to have that parcel of land and build from scratch or to use the exisiting facility and upgrade it? Would two MCG/Adelaide Oval sized ovals fit?

It would be good if they used the example of Karen Rolton Oval and did something like that that could be used as a home ground for the SANFL and AFLW. Make it look good. The location would be great - especially if they run a tram down O'Connell Street through to Prospect Road or a car park and run a bus loop before and after a game down Jeffcot Street.

I would have thought that you would make the training oval in front of the current centre along Barton terrace.

Given the lease to the school on the other oval it would make sense to upgrade that one for AFC and the schools use.

If it is to proceed, given the ACC are keen, i can't see them complaining about AFC taking additional expense from them with some of the ovals.

From that picture I can see they are mostly weed species. We’d be actually performing environmental restoration.
Hopefully it’s not the habitat for the endangered “bullshit” frog.

They're gum trees of some sort but thanks to Google wizardry, photos from last year show those tress around that north-east part of the area are not large

and the 3D view

The trees further west where the Aquatic building is are the larger ones that might be "significant trees" that might be harder to get permission to cut down.

Nice work, what would an AO overlay as the second oval within the area look like?
On the basis of course that some trees can be cut down, tennis courts cleared out etc. to accomodate it.

How, West Coast have 2 ovals at their new facility.

Because it’s in the north Adelaide area, we will be lucky to get one.

I've done an MCG, AO & Simmonds comparison before - click image below.

Oh wait, did you mean actually have two separate ovals in the site in question?

PS- I generated these by getting the oval/boundary outline from Google, then scale in Word using published dimensions of the ovals - I'd hate to know what my errors are but it gives an indication of how they compare.

Yes, I meant two separate ovals in the site.

Nice oval comparison too btw, good to see the differences.

Thinking about it would we need 2 separate ovals? So long as we had an oval space big enough to mark out any oval we like, I'm sure it would be of benefit. Not that I know much about line marking. This could be the way around not having 2 physical ovals should there be restrictions on cutting down of trees etc.

Edit: forgot about goal posts But I'm sure they could also be addressed

I reckon it needs to be fenced to really feel the size difference of an oval. So not sure one within the other would work.

Freo's new facility has 1 oval, they re line mark and move goal posts via a gps program to suit upcoming opponents grounds.

Wow, the goal posts are slideable or they have different holes to slot the posts into?
