If we somehow manage to roll the Eagles and the Cats and land in W2 of the finals, there will be a lot of pressure on the Club, via players/media to have Campo as the Coach in 2016.

I am a results oriented guy---and how could we argue with those results? If Campo steers this club to a finals birth and wins a round, how can he not be seriously considered?

I would think it one of the more remarkable coaching jobs not just in the AFL but anywhere.

Sometimes a person seizes hold when opportunity knocks--and be hard to think he didn't rise to the occasion when it mattered most if it plays out that way.

He certainly has garnered my attention so far.

Caro just said Loyd out of Carlton job .....and she thinks Pyke WILL get a senior gig soon ....no-one followed up with "which club"

Caro previously said we were into him and Carlton hadn't spoken to him. I reckon the club is keeping things very quiet out of respect for Campo and the players but as soon as our season is finished things will become clearer.

Scott has always been driven.

He may continue to surprise us.
but he also might be realistic.

he is 40 with a young family, now we all know that a coach only last around 5 years, and you don't go back to being an assistant at the club that you just got sacked as headcoach from.

so why wouldn't he wait 10 years, kids are older and have a crack - thats likely 2 more coaches to learn from.

I would be staggered if we aren't already well down the pathway to appointing the coach we want. There will have been a lot of work already done. With trading and drafting etc... to come, it would be neglectful in the extreme for us to not have a coach in place within nanoseconds of our season finishing.

We need to be active in the trade period and we need a coach on board to sell the club.

This is true - but isn't it interesting how much speculation and leaks there are around the Carlton position compared to the Crows? There is just zero speculation apart from Caro's occasional word. Very impressive that the club can keep things so water tight.

Of course I'd be happy for Campo to stay on as an assistant. But the club shouldn't overrate him based on Friday's good performance, after what he helped dish up against Sydney. He's showing good signs, though - he and Woosha out-coached Hardwick.
Remember who was in charge when we dished up what we did against the Bulldogs? Bad days happen.

He says that, but I'm sure the inner-coach in him would be having a say
I think it was in an interview with Worsfold that he said he won't suggest changes or tactics but will ask a question about this or that during a game. To me this says that he is very careful not to over-ride the coaches that are there and give them room to learn and grow but watching in the background.
It will also be interesting if Darren Glass still comes over for next year as was being discussed with Walsh.

My main problem with Campo is that he isn't an inspired choice. Walsh was, and it was easy to put all your faith in him because of it. It was so un-AFC at the time.

Feel like reappointing someone in the hope that they can replicate a good memory will lead us down a bad path.

One of the best things to have come from the Fagan era is the complete silence and lack of leaks. We went from being an open book to locked up like a vault.

If you were Campo - would the Carlton job be more attractive than going back to senior assistant at AFC? Not sure. Another 5 years in the caper will not hurt his Senior Coach ambitions.

Maybe the club have told Campo whom they are targeting, and that will influence his decision. Can he put his name up for other jobs while interim coach ... that would be weird - wouldn't it?

<EDIT> I do love the silence though ... nice change.

I'm sure the club will not wait til seasons end to find their man .. Before the tragedy was Campo the next best coach in waiting? No he wasn't. Even if we win a final I have no doubt Fagan will make the hard decisions
Campo would have to throw Lever forward for 5 goals to win the Grand Final to lock it up.

he is impressing, but if the club thinks a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush in the situation I would be very disappointed. I expect them to be extremely thorough and make a well-informed, and the best decision. Just like they did with Walshy.

MM went on record in 2013 and 14 declaring Carlton are a top 8 side and need to close the top 4 gap

MM actually did seem to believe that Carlton was in good shape, it's only this year he has changed his tune

Allegedly he told them early on that he thought 18 players on the list were shit and he wanted to ditch them all but was told no dice.

Word is that his public utterances were different to private (as they should be)

you'd think this would have been a consideration of the selection committee before they hired him?
