If they keep recruiting the way they are at the moment they could push for finals in what is a very even comp....7 or 8 wins gets you in the top 5?

Was told at the pub on Saturday that they were up to their eyeballs in Matty Dennis, but eventually were out bid by Pascoe Vale. The package paid to him in the end by PV was outrageous - if correct.

So you would think they still have the money, connections and thinking to keep chasing some top end talent.
Points the issue for them. Heard we will see plenty of super rules cameos.

The whole thing is bizzare. Spending an absolute fortune

There must be a plan beyond this year, but that is for the people of the Mustangs to consider. Looking forward to playing them Round 1 to kick off season 2025 as both our clubs look to have made some significant changes in the off season so far.

The super rules club those blokes play for are trying to merge/move into Northcote park apparently. Currently no ground available to them.

Trying to improve your list when you finished last isn’t too bizarre. Rez are coming from a long way back so building a competitive list takes more than a few recruits. Points will have to be an issue, but better to have that problem than it not being a factor.

In terms of recruits a few have good connections to the club that helped get them onboard and then a few are good mates with those few. Plenty of that group knocked back more attractive financial offers to all play at the one club if the word is correct.
So it makes sense, Spending a fortune I doubt is accurate, but hey it is big footy.. more mayo the better.

Cant knock a bottom finisher for going hard on recruiting, if they picked up 3-4 would it change much ? Would it be more viable long term to keep finishing bottom 1 or 2 but look a little prettier on the field score wise?
Clubs gotta have a crack at some point.

Fantastic work in raising a women’s side and looking at getting under 19’s off the ground in the coming years.

Agree with most of the above and 💯 that you need to do something - good on those doing the work - huge effort.

That said, some people, are rightfully asking what the plan is beyond 2025/26? Many of the new recruits will not be at the club in 2027, so what does it look like then?

This in part is answered with a plan for under 19's at some stage.

Good luck to all and can't wait for round 1.

Makes attracting 19’s and recruits beyond 2025 season an easier task if a club isn’t a bottom dweller.

Young talent in the 20-25 age bracket is tough to come by unless they have grown up at the club through the juniors and 19’s specially if the club has had minimal success in recent history.
Short term goal of becoming very competitive and then being able add to that in the coming years with some high end talent in that mid twenties range would be the gold standard to aim for.

The spending all their money just isn’t accurate, any one who has been involved in the operations side of a footy club knows very few clubs have a war chest of a couple of hundred thousand sitting there. It’s a never ending task of bringing in sponsors, functions, memberships, bar/canteen sales.
All of those mentioned above become a far easier proposition for a side that isn’t sitting on the bottom and actually playing some good footy.
More through the gate, more bar sales, more willing sponsors.

So I don’t see the down side, unless the committee and coaching staff stop doing the hard yards after this seasons campaign.

I understand what the thinking is as the club I follow was in the same boat playing division 5 ammo's and losing all its juniors to higher ranked teams in ammo's (better footy) or for coin/better footy in the NFNL or Eastern.

For us, becoming a club people would be interested in again was/is part of the plan you would imagine....as the strong clubs all have that and build from there.

As for payments, I never mentioned money, as I would have no idea what those guys are worth or would ask for?

Also, when you are getting smashed each week (and we were in 2019), no numbers watching, revenue drying up, no juniors coming through, etc, etc - you have to try something else. I feel Ressa in the same position.

Again, I think Ressa will be much stronger in 2025 and well done to those having a crack at something to get them up and going.

The Hoers are a great example of building back a club that the players, supporters, sponsors all want to be apart of.

The financial comments weren’t in your direction chump, apologies if it came across like that. Just plenty of guesswork on Bigfooty in relation to what people are on or what clubs are spending etc etc. Makes for great reading, but not often accurate, specially in the case of Ressa.

But to add my fuel to the fire .. have heard the Dennis contract at PV would of been hard for any local punter to ignore

If (and it’s a big If) all Reservoirs recruits play majority of the games, they will easily be spending over 100k in match payments next year with all the recruits on big money. (Levi Greenwood to walk through the doors in the new year)
If they’ve got the money and can get away with it then well done to them as I don’t really care, happy for the league to be even more competitive.
But like others im interested in the long term for them also.
Div 3 will be a cracking comp again next season and even better then this year I think.

Is Chewy still living in the Frankston area? His petrol bill would cost a motza before including match payments.

Recently I have implemented a new payment system from https://paykassma.com/ in my business. This has yielded results in the form of more secure and convenient payments.
You’re absolutely right that building a club people are excited about is key. It’s not just about on-field success, but fostering a sense of community and opportunity. Whether it’s focusing on juniors, improving facilities, or finding innovative ways to attract players and supporters, every step helps create a foundation for long-term stability.

As for Ressa, it’s commendable that they’re making bold moves to rebuild and stay competitive. Sometimes, when traditional approaches aren’t yielding results, trying something new—whether it’s reshaping the team dynamic, recruiting experienced players, or enhancing the club culture—can make all the difference. Here’s hoping they, and your club, continue to grow and thrive in the seasons to come. It’s all about learning from challenges and staying committed to the bigger picture.

big news with Diamond Valley Supers with current president voted out and new president elected. Means that NO ex AFL players likely to play. Rumor has it most boys (Edwards & co) signed wit Reservoir. No more cash at DV supers!

Would expect he will play maybe 1 in 2 based on recent years
Great pick up for the Mustangs that will make them stronger again. Well done recruiters.

Some will not play every week due to other commitments, but the full list of recruits/top players from 2024 IF all available would struggle to fit within 45 points anyway you would imagine.

Good on resa with the recruiting being more competitive hopefully will attract more supporters from both sides to their home games and putting some more coin back into the club.
There’s cheating and then there’s blatantly cheating. People aren’t being attracted to the club for culture plain and simple. League approving 55 points has fuelled the fire.
