Nick Stevens Could be out for the season

Perhaps in future, the muppets on this board shouldn't be so quick to shoot someone down and ridicule them for reporting news, which turned out to be true.

But then again... I am not a doctor, what would I know?

Exactly you arent a doctor so you didnt know, i bet even Stevens didnt know untill the last 24 hours.

I bet I did know, and I also bet that Stevens "knew" it was bad before he got the 2nd, 3rd and 4th opinions, he just wanted to get their opinions on which was the best way to deal with it, they all suggested immediate surgery and the year off was the best way to deal with it.

Finished stroking your own ego yet?

The disc can also bulge to the side where the nerves that go down your arm emerge from the spinal cord. This can cause a lot of pain, altered sensation, amd/or weakness in the arm, but, while it is a severe injury, is not as severe as the other guys.

The operation would likely be a discectomy

this is what I siad this morning. Turns out to be correct. I am not going to jump up and down stroking myself just because I took a (well educated) guess as to what the problem is.

The FACT......is that until it was announced people were speculating, based on media speculation. Some of it was right, some was wrong.

Get over yourself.

To Nick....good luck, and hope we see you training before the year is out.

He's out for the year now, time to move on for the Blues.

The burning question now is who do we elevate? Ross Young? Aisake? Jacobs? I think Ross Young will get promoted personally.

we just elevated Jackson to cover Grigg, that should do for now... wait to see if we suffer any more injuries, should we suffer another one then elevate someone to cover, otherwise just leave it because Grigg will be back in 7-9 weeks and then Jackson can take over his spot.

You don't have to elevate someone for every long term injury. It's only worth doing if they're definitely going to play senior football. atm Jackson's the only one likely.

now thats its official, i will have my 2 cents worth, i am a very shattered man:( nick was absolutley flying, this injury would explain why he was a tad quiet Vs geelong and bummers, i wish nick all the best and look forward to a big year in 08 from him, how hungry will nick be next year, going by the last few months, i cant wait:thumbsu:

Ok guys, now that he is out for the year i pose this question to you. Stevo is out of contract at the end of this year. After seeing his preseason form and his first three games for the year he has been pretty impressive. But last year we can all agree that he wasnt in his best form. The question i pose is with the risk of his neck and the form that he was in this year what does his contract demand now??? $400,000 - $450,000 on form so far this year - $200,000 - $350,000 on risk factor.

If the decision had to be made now, no doubt it would be Young.

But I rather hold it open for a while. We might need one of the ruckmen later on, and Blackwell comes into the team for Stevens at this point so we don't need Young just yet.

apology queue at Ch 7 would be getting long now...

start lining up boys....

I disagree.

They guessed.....got it right, but still a guess.

Example.
At the Smorgon press conference that was deciding the fate of Dennis Pagan SEN cross to their "Johnny on the spot" who announces "from a reliable source" that Smorgon has just phoned Pagan and told him he has been sacked......this breaking news was interrupted (and they missed the start of) Smorgon announcing that Pagan had been retained.......they guessed, got it wrong.

Last night we here on SEN and Ten news that Stevens is flying to Sydney to see Mr Yeo, the specialist that saw Andrew Johns.......today Mr Yeo is interviewed by SEN and denies ever having met or had anything to do with Nick..........

Media go on hunches all the time, some are right, some are wrong.....no need to kiss their arse when they fluke one.
They won't apologise if they miss.

Take a breath son, theres such a thing as punctuation. Use fullstops to complete your sentences or youll end up purple in the face like this guy >>>

Bad luck to Stevo. Picked up his game since last season and the club will miss him alot. Finals chances, however slim they originally were, are pretty much completely gone now. Lets just hope to stay out of the bottom 4

Well Said..............Good Luck to Nick, even though he didn't make it to his beloved Magpies.

I said that any injury to the neck is very serious, any sort of wrong movement could cause a very, very serious injury. I knew that something was wrong with Stevens, and that he would not play at the weekend, and it has been reported he is out for the season.

I was told I was silly, and that his scans were a precaution and that he would most certaintly play against West Coast. Good call :thumbsu:

I was shot down and ridiculed, the line "it's funny, I would have never expected all of Carlton Supporters to be doctors aswell" from some muppet sticks out. Once again, top call :thumbsu:

It's very bad for Nick, who was playing some great football this season, but it's better he gets the surgery ASAP and doesn't risk doing any further damage and gets back for next season. If he can continue his career. It will be very, very hard to fill his void in the CFC team, but the youngsters must step up even more now. Hopefully Luke Blackwell gets his turn this week

Dear Doctor. Firstly let me say how humbling it has been watching you work. How you are not appreciated by more people in the community for your brilliant work (particularly in the paranormal and psychic medical fields) escapes me. Have you considered approaching the WHO so the whole world can benefit from your genius?

PS: I have a slight strain in my back - could you post your diagnosis before lunch, I have a Laughing Club appointment at 11. Cheers.
