All of which undermines your case about him not having a proven forward pedigree...

Him being the leading goal kicker of the Dockers by kicking under 30 goals is like saying stiffy johncock had proven forward pedigree.

I don't think any disputes that Pavlich was going to turn out to be a key forward. The decision that needed to be made at the end of 2002 was who was the best option for a flag in 2003/2004.

I'm impressed. Maybe we should have given Freo an empty chip packet, given that that particular trade would have involved a player who was 5 years into retirement?

Cheeky. I meant 2001.

Formline from the WA games.

I dont know about last nights game as I didnt watch it, but all those teams have played to win these preseason games.

I would never have predicted the actual formline would be what you posted. Definitely holds true.

A lot of preseason games do indicate early formline. Sure there is always going to be a few outliers and other variables at play.

Pre-season form isn't always a good guide. Some top teams take it easy, knowing that they have a long season ahead of them. Others play out of their skins, think Carlton winning the pre-season silverware.

Having said that, I would much rather see winning form in March, than losing form. Winning form gives the players confidence, for when the real stuff begins. Winning in the pre-season is definitely preferable to losing, particularly given where the AFC is coming from.

After 2 preseason losses in WA, Ken got off the plane, smiled and said there was nothing to worry about…
I guess we’ll all be smiling 😊

Agreed. Dangerfield barely jogging around playing Ruck tells you how seriously Geelong took it.
We played a near bottom side and Nic Nat being out can't be underestimated as to how much it made our midfield look better. Great to win and all that, but can't read too much just from that game.

Going to WA, and beating both teams on their home turf, having been away from home the whole time - is eminently satisfying. It's hard to think of any way our pre-season could have gone any better.

... So now we turn to the real stuff, which starts in 2 weeks time. Our pre-season performances have given us reason for optimism, but ultimately they count for nothing. They are just preparation for the real stuff.

Fingers crossed we can hold this form, and that it's not just an early-season mirage.

Ben King looks exceptional physically coming back from his knee looks like a man and not a bean pole anymore.

Very exciting he could be anything!
