Sad waste of talent but it is his life and I hope he’s found his place out of the spotlight

Left field...... but thoughts and condolences with the Beaumont family today.
I have been to the well sadly, but still cannot fathom having to deal with the loss of 3 children in one fell swoop, and going to my grave never knowing.
It must've been a hell of a burden, and I hope she truly rests in peace now.

Greene has learnt a hard lesson I feel... whether he meant it or not... last weeks exot from the tribunal ..he glowed with the smugness of a child with a full belly... not so much tonight ... one really does get the feeling that there was a bit ...oK if you dont get the message the easy way .. get the message the hard way...

Mounted a great defence "there was no contact with the eyes" when it was quite obvious that there was.
Could only have tried to have it downgraded from intentional to careless, but to go with no contact was stupidity IMO.

Except that the truth is NOBODY has proved he did make contact with the eyes.
Does he have to make contact with the eyes? Haven't we suspended guys on the possible huge down side / the potential of the action? If he had any sort of non PC smarts about him .. he would have known that you don't poke the bear. Why did he do those acts on the ground... whats his objective. He must be a smart as car chasing dog.. what the dog going to do once he catches the car...

I thought that was their argument, that the video did not show actual contact, but the appearance he was going to. Tbh, I have not seen it.

Yep that was their argument and they never stood a chance once they decided to run with that defence, trying to downgrade it from intentional to careless was their only hope IMO and I don't reckon they stood much chance with that either.
Anyway I'm sure we're both happy the little grub got his just desserts.
The penalty is always weighed on damage to a high degree .. personally I feel we should split these things into football and non football actions ... and TG's actions take me back to Sundays watching Jack Little .. with Killer Carl Cox and Haystacks Calhoun..

What about Skull Murphy and Brute Bernard? Scarily ugly. I was sucked in by them at the time. Didn't help that my dad said they have to do that sort of work because they didn't finish school..

The problem for Greene was also that his lawyer seemed to be hedging his bets on why Greene should be found not guilty, but going the line of not guilty due to no contact. At the tribunal in closing arguments he was going with:
- Greene made no contact to face
- If you deem there was contact to the face it was careless
- Greene may have made contact to his teammates face
- It may have been a teammate that made contact with Neale's face
- Any contact to Neale's face was negligible
There was more, but they tried to cover too much in their argument. If they argued careless then I think Greene gets off. Because as the following tweet shows, there was as clear raking motion in Neale's eye region, but level of contact is unclear

I thought he should have been cleared cause the footage is inconclusive. But he should have been suspended last week.

MRO and tribunal has to be completely taken out of the AFL's hands.
They tell an independent group at the start of the year the rules and interpretations then that's it. See you at the end of the year.
Same with umpiring. Rules get sorted before the start of the season, then the AFL is out, till next season.
No more chopping and changing every week.

Not a bad idea.......protecting the integrity of the MRO / Tribunal from corruption will always be a difficult task.
Independence would be fantastic for the game from an integrity of competition perspective - unfortunately the AFL actually want to control these aspects of the game and don't give a shit about the integrity of the competition.

Yeah exactly. That is the problem unfortunately.
I can't help but think that all this Toby Greene tomfoolery will serve as a perfect distraction from preparation for GWS as far as the Pies are concerned. I'm expecting Collingwood to smash them this week. The prelim will be a lacklustre affair, and the Pies will then lose the GF as a result. Whoever wins our game, wins the flag, as far as I can tell.
