It’s just not true Vdubs. Just because they are not certain wins it doesn’t make them 50:50. We will be solid favourites - like 75/25 - in all of them.
You are correct pragmatically, but in my feeble mind, I see that we can lose to GC as "easily" as Tigers did, which was a very close thing.

It's not an ideal reaction from Butler, but it's understandable watching this - dare say that Saints fans would have been as frustrated as he was

That is atrocious umpiring. Almost 2 identical incidents with 2 different decisions.
And people wonder why the umpires cop so much crap.

There were some really bad decisions in a couple of games, and that one would be right near the top of them you'd reckon, think saying Saints fans would have been frustrated is putting it mildly.

Not really. The ump obviously thought Clark got a boot to it. The second is htb. Butler losing it and giving away 50 is unforgivable if you're a saints fan..

If that's the case a visit to OPSM would be recommended for that umpire.

You see guys missing their foot in the tackle all the time with no whistle. They couldn't have all just skimmed the leather with their toe. I think it's a bit like the phantom handball, directive to let it go unless too obvious.

I find it really amusing how Collingwood are defending Ginnivan‘s “ducking” antics when Eddie McGuire was the one who complained to the AFL and created a huge scene years ago about Selwood doing it.

Will Eddie be doing the same with Ginnivan and taking it to the AFL?
Umpires are already starting to adjudicate him differently than they were at the start of the season. Rightfully so, he has made umpires look silly with his approach to drawing free kicks and they have had enough.

It also shits me to tears when commentators (read: D king) claim that his approach to drawing free kicks “is a skill” ( yes that is a direct quote from d king). Is that seriously a skill of our game? Can you imagine the training session: “ alright lads, enough running, we are doing a skills session now, today’s drill is how to lower your knees and violently lift your free arm when you are about to be tackled….I know that we should be practicing our kicking, marking, tackling, etc but this a skill of our game and we all have to master it”

when you watch closely, you can see how the player drives toward the arm/side of the tacklers, not away like they want to escape. And of course they don't keep driving their legs. Weightman seems to actually hook or grab the arm. Bundy, at Bris, looked like he was giving the Seig Heil.
Couple years ago, Pendlebury gathered a ball just outside 50 going in, had a good step before contact, and as plan as day stayed low and went right at the tacklers hip. Free kick, goal. They are all aware of how to do it. Some do it more or better than others. And then for some it is the 'go to' move I50.
I agree with the opinion, at least to start, if the tackler initiates contact legally and the arm comes up it's prior and ping them. They should also analyze the head-body alignment in a range of incidents to see if there is a pattern they could use to adjudicate. It is a tough one to call. As it is, the tackler can have his arm straight down his side and still get pinged because the ball carrier drives right into that spot and pushes it up. Yes, it is a skill.

Before the season, I thought North would be ok. They have some decent veteran players and some good developing kids. I think Cunnington going out devastated them. It exposed their lack of good forwards. Ziebell isn't much of a leader, Goldstein tries hard. I think the lack of onfield leadership, and a first year coach sucked a lot of energy out of them after early defeats. I don't think they need a priority pick, or they can have one for a coach or admin position. A good coach and some of their older players back would change their performances dramatically. IMO

Ziebell is fine, well respected at NM and in the AFL. Almost got the job ahead of Swallow, but Swallow was experienced and typified their spirit, which Ziebell also does. But he has very little back up. Even losing Tarrant has hurt them. They got rid of too much experience too quickly.

Nick R goes with the best smother we've ever seen....

Clearly he was not alive for this...

GO Catters

Nick was just trying to put it over another famous smother he was involved in...

What they need is help getting the football department in order including list/scouting teams

The Joel Corey one is good. I would think Nick might be hesitant about eliciting contenders for greatest smothers, though. Perhaps some flashbacks. This wasn't a grand final...
