Tigers limping having now lost Nankervis to a knee injury, Soldo to a broken thumb. Then Lynch has a hamstring injury.
Playing at Docklands which we know they hate it at Marvel.

You won't get a better chance, norf.

Every week there’s a stupid statement made that we “let” Clarke go

Can people just accept that players move on ? he was offered a 4 year contract and didn’t fit well within the club …move on

And Mumford just got tired of the club did he? Pretty sure i remember hearing him say that if we had played him in the 09 Grand Final instead of Blake he would've stayed at Geelong. Much like Choosing Blake over Mumford, choosing not to play Clark last year is a decision that is going to bite us in the ass for years.

Players might not fit with a club, but it sure as shit helps them want a move when you refuse to give them a game.

Clark clearly has the potential to go on to have a good career but as someone stated on the previous page we’ve swapped him for Conway who is the best chance we’ve had in a decade of fixing our ruck issues. too early to say if it’s a win one way or the other but it’s not a bad result.

Losing clark wont bite us at all once conway is our starting ruck.

So much more watchable than anything in recent seasons

Pretty loose back then, you can tell how coaches developed much tighter defensive structures since.
I like hockey, so I don't the biff, except those POSs that come in and coward hit during a melee. They should charged with assault.
Looked there was plenty of passion in it though, good game.

Hey everyone, did you see that Jordan Clark still plays football? We shouldn’t have let him go! We’d be sitting on top of the ladder if he was still at the club!
…because he’d make no difference as he’d be in the VFL as a depth player. Good luck to him at Freo. Maybe it’s time for all the Clark lovers to let him go and get on the Conway train!

Not so sure that’s the best result for us assuming we can keep winning. Demons have a tough run home. Pies an easy one. If we ended up with a Cats, Lions, Dockers, Pies top 4 we’d be in a perfect position to launch a flag assault in the finals.

Yeh, every year over last decade, I have started to look at the games late in season and worked out how many more wins we needed for top 4 - based on other results.

I am less worried about that now, if we can’t come home in strong form, then really the double chance is not much value to us.

We need to win 4 of last 6 to have enough momentum going into finals and I reckon that will be enough to secure top 2 regardless of other results.

And yes, would prefer Demons coming lower half of 8.

FFS.

1. Mumford was clearly cooked by finals time in 2009. Playing Blake was definitively the right decision and his work in the ruck was influential in us winning the flag (Ottens was not able to run out the game due to an injury interrupted season).

2. Mumford left for money. Pure and simple. Sydney threw a sizeable contract at him as an unproven ruck which we were never going to be able to match. You may recall we had a fairly good playing list in 2009, there were plenty more important mouths to feed than an unproven ruck off the rookie list.

3. Mumford pulled the same move when he left Sydney for GWS. They offered him more money so he left. Good luck to him, I would likely do the same in his position.

4. The narrative of him staying if he played in the 2009 gf is a convenient story on his behalf, but it is BS. We couldn’t afford him, he was always going to leave. Regardless of whether we gifted him an undeserved game in the 2009 gf.

Honestly feels like it's getting to the stage where the Clark/Clarke discussion will start getting moved to the "Don't Mention the War" thread - we're not getting discussion about Fremantle & how they're traveling, mentions of other Freo players or such focus on other former Geelong players including current players like Walker, Fogarty, Motlop or Cockatoo etc

Discussion is purely focused on a single individual, with only one intention when mentioning his name

Alternately, I've recommended in the past & happy to do so again, that the "Clark Appreciation Society" take their discussion to the Fremantle board since he's a Fremantle player

Tigers fans have completely lost the plot.
Some posters on their board are hoping certain players neck themselves.
What the actual *
Reminds me of something I heard when I was a teenager... When you go watch a Tigers game there is no point abusing the Tiger players, their own fans will be doing a better job of it

What the GC win shows us all is how even this comp is, and away games v Blues, Port and GC are no better than a 50/50 chance.
We have reached the pinnacle, but have discovered there is a further pinnacle to reach. Top spot means 2 things- every team wants to knock us off, and staying there is a mighty challenge.

It’s just not true Vdubs. Just because they are not certain wins it doesn’t make them 50:50. We will be solid favourites - like 75/25 - in all of them.
