Shouldn’t the roles goes to those best qualified for them and not be based on their genders? Being an elite coach in a different sport does not translate as being elite in AFL….the sport day to day stuff is completely different to netball let alone tactics and gameday preparations ects
It has nothing to do with discrimination and more to do with the fact that she feels so entitled that she doesn’t want to go to a lower league and work her way up to prove herself that she can do the job.
No. Its a comp for women. Any man in the afl would be a star in the W comp but obviously that has nothing to do with who is best qualified or who has the best talent or knowledge. Just like the women players, the coaches also need to be developed. If they are ever to be involved in a serious way..ever to be the best "qualified" for an AFL role then they need a start and that should be in the W.
Now if it was fully profesional full time comp..then perhaps I would take a different approach but its not. Its a supplemented subsidised comp that is supported for from the mens comp and that is done for very good reasons. I think one has to keep in mind what role the comp is doing. It there to allow women to particpate in the sport. That should apply on and off the field.
As far Alexander and Netball etc ... Im not advocating for her to be a AFL coach , I think we are a long way from having a manger that never played tha game, let alone a female one. I doubt we could appoint Ange Postecoglou or Brian Goorjian either , and having them incharge of Danger and Selwood types etc.
As far as her footh knowledge goes...that im not sure. Alexander actually talked about cross over from one sport to another but Im not advancing her ..as much as the women that are ready to coach who have played the game etc. She mentioned GWS girl but Id say there would be multiple women that could do the role.
EDIT: I think thre are multiple name on here that have done the hard yards...and in relation to DelSanto ... just what coaching and prep has he done at lower level to prep him? Has he coach NABL for example or VFLW?
