Have been to all our GF’s from ‘89 on. ‘94 and ‘95 were just awful. Both games over by half time. I walked away after ‘95 thinking there was a very real chance that I would never experience the joy of watching a winning flag team. It took a while longer to get there but to win 4/6 since then is a fair effort. Overall the 4/10 isn’t great. I’d like to at least get that back to 6/12…

Same tbh. Especially after 97.

98/99 were close til 3/4 time but blew out in the end.
I remember my mum swearing to me 1991 should/coulda/woulda been our year. Forget all the other years.

And 1997. Saints v Bulldogs would have been so much better but unfortunately the footy gods were taking a great big dump on the dogs the week before in the prelim. :'(
That would have been 93? 91 we were off, but 93, we left our run too late

No, I'm pretty sure she is adamant 91.

93, I was following that season. Heartbreaker missing the finals by %.
I had family who thought we would win it in 91 as well, especially since the Hawks narrowly pipped us at Waverley and after we smashed them that season, and then we let WCE jump us in the first quarter at Waverley Park and that was the difference in the end.

Would love if we ever got to have a finals series at our home ground...

Yep, that is all ringing a bell.

If you could go back in time where would you go to have a re-do? For me it'd be in this order from top to least: 1997 > 93 > 2019 > 89 > 92 > 91 >>>> Nick Davis > 95 > 94.

Kinda funny I put 2 of the grand finals right at the bottom of that list..

Can someone please post a link to the full schedule tomorrow, ie. start times of everything that is happening at the G.

Just did several searches, including the AFL website, can only find out the game starts at 2.30pm :rolleyesv1:

How does this seem:

Fair enough. I had no recollection of 91.
Now I do. You are spot on. Had we beaten Hawks in that week 2 of finals, after Billy Brownless helped us beat the Saints, we were straight into the GF.
We went to the Hawks game, and as usual in finals, they just beat us.
I think BB would have been suspended had we made the GF.

My mum's spot on, not me :winkv1:

Do you think maybe had Ablett been moved to FF earlier than 1993, it would have made a difference?

Billy was really good as a FF though. Will never know. We had Lindner and Stoneham as well in the mix late 80's.

Some are mentioning the heat as a factor in favor of the the lions… I’m not buying into it , because I also thought it could be a factor in 2015 to help the eagles beat the hawks on a warm day… no effect at all against the hawks! Best team on the day will win regardless of the weather.

Always heard that 2 poor free kicks were paid in that last quarter to give Richmond victory. Is there any truth to this or is it a myth?

No i disagree with that

Goggin did kick a goal - Swift did mark the ball over the goal line - but there was only 5 seconds to go - so the Cats wouldnt have had time to score another goal

Rich lost their NO 1 ruckman Neville Crowe - got 4 weeks in the 2nd semi ( very controversial suspension ) so we were playing them without him - that was a huge advantage for us

Geel were exciting in that final series ( final 4 ) beat Coll in the 1st semi - then in the PF gave Carl 5 goals start at h/t - but then kicked 11 goals to 1 ( 8 in the 3rd qtr ) to wipe the floor with the Blues . Similar in the GF - 3 goals behind Rich at h/t - and then came with a big 3rd qtr burst

Ive said this before - if someone could somehow find the vision of that 67PF 2nd half ( and the odds of doing that are like finding a 1930 Penny ) then it would be utterly sensational - it would be like Ess finding some vision of some lost Coleman games

If they only kept the vision - not just Football but racing and other sports it would br fantastic - but unfortunately they have chucked most of it out
