i just got back from the game. dont often write up reports or anything but ill give it a go.

Grigg: played center today and got alot of the ball. however i didnt think his disposal was that great. seemed to just bang it long alot of the time and not hit up targets.

Browne: Played as a defender on corie or dick. did a relitivly good job aswell as getting some ball for himself

Garlett: i think this boy will be a star. great forward pressure all day and should of probably finished with a few more goals. WAS out running his opponent all day

Warnock: only had limited game time and is not ready for the seniors. needs another couple of weeks in the ants.

Cloke: kicked a really nice goal from outside fifty 5 metres from the boundry line (with the wind). even in the ants he seems abit slow. tried hard but just seems to slow and bulky on the defencive aspects of the game.

cheers carlton06. We all appreciate the effort so keep up the good work. makes a big difference to those of us who cannot get to games but have an interest

Playing Edwards and Fisher in the backline will do wonders for Carlton who need more forwards...

Fish has been banished, perhaps permanently, from The Blues because he lacks defensive skills in putting pressure on his man. Giving him a couple of weeks down back may be just the ticket.

I'm not sure about Edwards as he hasn't been given a run this year due to an injury interrupted pre-season. But it appears he wasn't earning a kick with Saddo and Cloke in attack. Another for whom defensive accountability may teach him a thing or two about his intensity.

Anyway, Thornton is our new CHF.:D

What is the story on Bentick anyone  Three goals two weeks in a row - suggests improved kicking  Might have been a chance for a game if Hadley had not found form

Unfortunately for Fisher I think physical limitation is the cause of his poor defensive efforts. Goes to ground too easily and is too slow. Seems to lack power through the core/legs.

Bentick was probably your best player in the VFL today IMO.

I wouldn't read too much into Fisher playing back, because of the gale blowing down one end, each team had a loose man down back for the whole game and that was Fisher for you guys. He just tried to double team Rocca and Dawes.

Compliments of the TC Forum, a subscriber who went to the game today...

Sauce - I wish I could say the big man had a big game, but he was so-so today, IMO. Probably broke even in the tap outs, but gave us little around the ground (particularly in the 1st half). Even allowing for the windy conditions and a better 2nd half, I was mildly disappointed with him today.

206 - Played about 60% game time, and needs another couple of weeks in the VFL to find his 'rhythm' IMO. As you'd expect, he wins basically every ruck contest - and I was impressed by his ability to gather the ball below his knees and give off a clean handpass in traffic - but he's not linking up or taking marks around the ground at the moment. He was blowing pretty hard at times today too.

Cloke - The pick of the three big men, IMO. Played up forward and, in the conditions, did pretty well. It remains to be seen if it will translate into AFL games for him, but his VFL form has been solid in recent weeks. With Carlton's forward line looking dysfunctional, and Krooz and Hammer looking a bit tired, perhaps we could throw Cloke in against the Cats. We know he's slow and his defensive pressure is a worry, but he might be able to draw some physical pressure away from Fev, and, let's face it, he'd probably be playing for his career...

Grigg gets a tick today, IMO. He was battered from pillar to post but his work rate and intensity around the packs was excellent. Tried to take the game on and move the ball quickly most times, which was good to see.

I'm not sure what Garlett's situation is with the rookie list, but if he is eligible to play for Carlton this week, I would think he'd be close to selection (particularly as Betts looks like he's playing injured). Garlett's tackling and chasing today was very good - and we know he can be dangerous when he gets the ball in his hands.

Fisher basically spent the whole game at the one end - ie. against the breeze he played as the loose man in defence (and played the role fairly well, IMO). Believe it or not, he even did the kick-outs in the last quarter!!

I love Wiggo and Pfeiffer's hardness at the ball, but they both make too many skill errors. Wiggo might be in the mix for Carlton this week if the MC are looking for some grunt, but it wasn't his best game today IMO. It'll be interesting to see if Pfeiffer gets another year on the rookie list. I'm not convinced he's any worse than Bentley.

Speaking of Bentley, he kicked a great goal in the 3rd quarter, but otherwise I didn't notice him much aside from a couple of errors in the last term. I'll be interested to read what others thought of his game today...

Browne performed his usual quota of couragous acts today. AB and Banno were tough and effective in the midfield (and, or the second week in a row, AB kicked 3 goals). I thought Ellard was OK as a midfielder/forward. And Jake wasn't hopeless in defence.

Harts didn't play, which was a shame because there was a good match up for him in Rocca. As it was, Neaves (who doesn't look confident in defence) played on Rocca (who looks just about finished). Neaves also had a spell in the ruck (and went OK) which perhaps speaks to how non-dominant (and non-match fit) Sauce and 206 are just at the moment.

BOG was clearly Iacobucci. All in all, a pretty good win against a similarly ranked team - especially considering the Ants were playing with 21 men for most of the game (McCorkell was injured very early and didn't return).

Can we just draft this Iacobucci lad for the sake of it. Everygame I've been to he has dominated.

Couldn't tell you his first name, couldn't spot him in the street and wouldn't know his age...

Can play.

Even though Pfeiffer won't play for the Blues again, it's good to see Darren back and in form.

Pfeiffer showed a bit last week.
Why not??

Pfeiffer >> Bentley. I get Pfeiffer's skills and awareness are sometimes dubious but I STILL maintain he has enough attributes to make it at the top level. Fantastic mark, extremely courageous, strong tackler and has versatility as he can pay in a variety of positions. I'm still holding out hope...

Reckon Pfeiff would have played some senior footy this year had he not been injured, but similarly to Bentick injury has set them both back and they're both up against it to keep their spots on the list.

His name is Adam.... lol
and he was delisted by Collingwood a few years ago now....

Delisted by Collingwood, 3 years since he was on an AFL List. Sounds like another Trent Hotton. Ross Young?

his height - 180cm. While Armfield and Joseph are being groomed to take over from Scotland and Stevens, perhaps he'd be worth a punt with our last spot on the list? He's had 5 years playing against adults and may be better value than some 18yr old with pick 80 in a weak draft.

At least with Ellard, Pfeiffer and Bentley we could use the rookie list - this bloke is too old for that.

Iacobucci to our rookie list?...

I certainly wouldn't be opposed to that, given this years thin draft, and the fact that he'd have to be in front of a couple of blokes on our rookie list, namely Lachie Hill & Luke Stanton to play AFL footy.

A great write-up from the poster over on TC, and would be nice to see Garlett back in the Carlton team. In fact, I thought he was pretty unlucky to be dropped a couple of weeks ago.

Also, just another though, I just wonder if AB might be considered after a couple of good games back with the Ants. Knows his role in the Carlton team, and he would really slot into the spot that we have still yet to fill - the extractor around the stoppages.

I can't believe that we never picked Hard Iaco up...
