Re: National Draft Selection #31

Tayte Pears considered realistic?
I'd have to say not at #31. Had we traded Shaw and gotten that pick upgrade to #25, I would have said we'd have to be profoundly lucky. Not at #31 though.

Re: National Draft Selection #31

Harry Croft.

Went to draft camp, played every match in vic metro u18,

posted 14.1 beep test in the camp, solid time in 3k, fast rebounder.

Could see him fitting into the James Clement role in future.

Would be a super star.

Agreed, absolute gun :thumbsu:

Agree with you and macca, I've seen Croft jes fly for marks and take them with ease

Also very versatile being able to play key forward or back. Unlike others, can hit a target on his opposite foot.

Any team that drafts him is getting a gun of the future.

Re: National Draft Selection #31

Whats the chances of Dawson Simpson being available at #31....?
After his TAC Cup finals campaign, pretty good I'd say. ;)

Just looking at his TAC Cup numbers, in his last two games he had < 50% effective kicks... only played 7 games though.

Re: National Draft Selection #31

Midfielder before anything else should be at the top of our list at pick 31- unless there is a massive slider regardless of position who is too good to pass on.

Alrighty - Yes, we traded out of the first round, but we've still got picks #31, #47, #63 and the rookie draft coming our way, to go along with the confirmed selections of Jaxson Barham and Kevin Dyas.

So here is where we talk about all draft-related topics.

And just as a note, given that I know people are probably going to be taking a lot of stuff from the Drafts & Trading board - Make sure you credit the posters appropriately if you're copying player profiles or anything else from the other boards - Plagiarism is still plagiarism online.

Hey VV, have you seen anything of Dangerfeild? if he's still around at 31 is he worth a look? We need a genuine BP/Tagger, and he could be developed from there into the midfeild...

Also do you think with his poor form at the Champs that Dawson Simpson might slip to us at 47? Fits the bill as a fourth 'developing' ruck behinf Fraser, Wood and Bryan.

I really would love us to pick up Mitch Farmer all class i've seen him play a number of times this year and he never failed to impress i hope he slips to 31 and if that happened would be a steal for mine! He is all class runs all day can play back and shut down an opponent while running of and creating drive forward and can play as a small tall as he does have an impressive leap for a little fella and very good hands too. He finishes off anything in front of goal well rarely misses from what i saw and he doesn't mind kicking the pressure goals when the game is tight. He's a one touch type as well and i believe he shows flashes of Crawford from the Hawks. After that of course we need a ruck man to develope Dawson Simpson looks like he would be perfect fit but i don't think he will slide too far down and if nothing happens there maybe Will Sullivan from the Jets he knows how to get his hand to the ball in the ruck contest and his around the ground work has improved some bulldogs scouts i sat next to earlier in the year were impressed with how far he's come along this year so if he has a record of showing marked improvement he might be worth a crack. I also think we need another young key defender and Dulic from the Cannons looks like one who could slide right down and be a great pick up! He's just a straight up full back stopper but he has a long kick and doesn't mind taking on his opponent and pumping it long down the ground pretty strong body too looks likely...but these are just my opinions and what i'd love to get out of the draft.:thumbsu:

We should take a midfielder with pick 31.

It may not be Simpson, or a ruckman that's our rpeference, but its 100% certain that a draftable ruckman will be available at pick 47. There are a lot of them in this draft. And to be honest, drafting ruckman is somewhat of a lottery. You can come good with an early pick (i.e Hamish McIntosh) or get lucky and pick up a quality ruckman late in the draft or in the rookie draft who isn't rated much (i.e Warnock or Cox).

Pick 31 should go to an inside mid. Pick 47 for a ruckman. Pick 63 to the best available player. Next pick for Barham. Then rookie list a ruckman and a backman.

Good to see we got Kevin. Looks to be a star and will fit in with Mortinononon. Think of there connection coming to Collingwood. Unstoppable.

Do we need John Shaw anymore?

Do we go for 3 Midfielders or what? We have our ruckmen. We could get another defender but it might just be a waste of money. Forward line can only improve with what they have.

I'd say that at #31, we should be looking at a midfielder, and then depending on who's available and who we rate, pick up another midfielder and a ruckman at #47 and #63.

Re: National Draft Selection #31

i believe we should go for the best available.

im hoping for John Shaw... the Sandy Dragons ruck. He was the TAC cup team of the year ruck behind Kreuzer.
Hes pretty mobile - racks up the hitouts however hes only about 6'6"

#31, #47, #63

Don't care what order we get them in because Hiney knows best :thumbsu:

But I would like to see us get an inside mid, KP back prospect and a ruck prospect, but no Richards clones please. Richards should be the example of what NOT to get lol.

If no really good KP backman or ruck prospects are around, we shouldnt settle for a mediocre talent, just get another inside mid. Would hope we can land all 3 though :D

And in a strange feeling compared to the last decade, with Hiney, I'm always confident we will

Bit of inside news on the draft -

The pies are looking at picking Jack Hollmer who played in Geelong's reserves most of this year. Is a mobile centre half back type player. Has been invited to Collingwood and will take him with the last pick they have (not including Barham) if he is still there (should be).

I think that now we've got Wood, we can afford to take a bit of a gamble on who'll be available at Pick #47 for a ruckman. As smiddaz123 says, there will certainly be a draftable ruckman available. I'm hoping we go for Renton, but we may decide to go for more of an athletic project-type player, or could even wait until Pick #63 and grab a Joel Smouha type.

The midfielder is the big one at #31, and as I mentioned earlier, Ward, Otten and Farmer are guys in the mix at that pick that I like thus far.

Of course, In Hine We Trust and all that. :D

I'm still expecting that we take Barham at #79, meaning three picks in the National Draft, by the way.

Jack Hollmer

Height: 184 cm
Weight: 85 kg
DOB: 2/11/ 1985
Recruited From: Lorne

A highly committed and talented utility who has been super impressive over the pre-season. Hollmer has lead the way in every endurance test held during the pre-season training program and has shown he has the ball winning ability to match, with a number of stand out performances during practice matches. When not representing the BB Cats, he will be trying to win a premiership with the Lorne Dolphins.
Doubt that he'd be playing CHB at 184cm...

Thats where he played for lorne, reads play well and takes good mark so is hard to pass across CHB. But yes he will probably struggle in AFL in that possi - HBF maybe. Sorry Vinnie
