I was wondering if anyone can help me and shed some light on Ryan Colbert. He is training with us and I'm starting to get extremely interested in him and would like to know what type of player he is and what his physical and mental attributes are like because i think he may come under consideration at pick 47 in this Saturday's National Draft or taken in the Rookie Draft with our first selection.

I read up somewhere he won some award playing for Old Xaverians but would like to know more about him.

Re: Future Magpies Watch

The list is still being put together but as far as a bolter goes Dean Putt is very popular at the moment and is moving up fast and if Marlon Motlop gets past Port Adelaide at 16 he might slide into the middle of the second round. The mock draft will appear in the final week and its safe to say it won't match the 'consensus opinion' on the draft and trading board.

Hey mate, are you still planning on doing this?

Better put up the mock before Burgan's appears, I don't want to be accused of plagerism.

1 Carlton. Matt Kreuzer (duh! Still needs to work on the disposal though)
2 Richmond. Trent Cotchin (Some mocks have them picking Morton, Why? He's the best player in the draft and very similar to Gary Ablett and I see Mr Hine thinks so as well)
3. West Coast. Chris Masten (The Weagles have had the guts of their midfield ripped out so they go for the closest thing to Ben Cousin's you're going to get. Could also be Palmer)
4. Melbourne. Cale Morton (Cameron wastes no time in picking the best wingman/flanker in the pool)
5. Bulldogs. Jarrad Grant (They need key forwards but they go for Brad Johnson's replacement, 32 in 2008)
6. Essendon. David Myers (With McPhee going forward this opens up a spot at half back which Myers slides into, he'll eventually go into the midfield)
7. Fremantle. Rhys Palmer (The Dockers are praying he lasts this long, then get their man)
8. Brisbane. Cyril Rioli (Every thing he toughes turns to goals)
9. Ben McEvoy (Finally get their ruckman for the next ten years)
10. Adelaide. Brad Ebert (And with this selection the Port fans aren't happy, now you know how Graham Cornes feels)
11. Sydney. Lachlan Henderson (Sydney's Forward line is getting old so they grab the best key position prospect, but is he a forward or defender?)
12. Hawthorn. Tom Collier (Three pretty good key defender types to choose from. The Hawks go with the man who can play both fullback and CHB)
13. West Coast. Jack Grimes (The Weagles are well stocked with key defenders so they go for more midfield reinforcements)
14. Melbourne. Alex Rance (They get that much needed tall defender)
15. Kangaroos. Pat Veszpremi (In a different body he'd be picked top 3 but pumping through goals from outside 50 gets your attention. Have to admit he's a favourite of mine but I'm in a very long queue)
16. Port Adelaide. Marlon Motlop (He's the type Port can't resist, quick and skillful and the Power like to keep it all in the family. Two Burgoyne's, two Cornes and now two Motlop's, related but not brothers)
17. Geelong. Scott Selwood (The club that has everything including a premiership cup, they just pick the best player and make Joel and his parents very happy)

Round 2
18. Richmond. Addam Maric (Maric will make Tigers supporters forget Andrew Krakouer, fast)
19. Bulldogs. Callan Ward
20 West Coast. Tony Notte (The only box that isn't ticked is the body, will he ever be able to put on weight?)
21. Melbourne. Patty Dangerfield
22. West Coast. Steven Browne
23. Essendon. Mitch Farmer
24. Fremantle. Tayte Pears
25. Bisbane. Sam Reid
26. Sydney. Dave Gourdis
27. Adelaide. Levi Greenwood
28. Port Adelaide. Andrew Otten
29. Hawthorn. Ashley Arrowsmith
30. Adelaide. Dan McKenna
31. Collingwood. Brendan Whitecross (Exceedingly hard to predict but a player who can go into the guts is someting we need. Whitecross killed the testing at the draft camp and is bottom age so might not last this long. Chris Mayne not out of the question and for a roughie here I like Brett Meredith)
32. Kangaroos. Steven Gaertner
33. Port Adelaide. Scott Simpson
34. Geelong. Tom Bellchambers

Players who could jump into the second round or third round talents
Pat McGinnity
Will Sullivan
James Mulligan*
Myke Cook*
Matt Austin*
James Polkinghorne
Tom McNamara
Robbie Tarrant
Hugh Sandilands
Dean Putt*
Brett Meredith*
Chris Mayne*
Dawson Simpson
Chris Kangars
Jarrhan Jacky*
Aaron Joseph

*I wouldn't mind any of these guys in black and white stripes with Jacky another favourite. The AFL is now a very structured game but Jacky whilst raw still has a touch of magic. As for the rest no doubt thre's some hidden gems but having just two picks this year is not a bad thing. Next years crop is much more exiting and those are the sorts of years years you want to use the full compliment of picks.

Surprised we passed on Mitch Farmer, but he hasn't gone yet to #40 anyway.

There was no hesitation in our selection at all, I noticed. Not even when offered to change their pick after Adelaide stuffed up at #30.
