Oh geeze, Grundy was behind the win loss record? Sheesh.

A smart club would have found a way to keep him. Sure re-negotiate his salary, but don't low ball it so badly that he has no choice but to say no. Clearly there is bad blood and a certain level of disrespect involved - Grundy has been a great servant of the club and is being made the scapegoat for poor management decisions made by the administration. Just like Treloar. Or De Goey.

The coach is decent but there are clear signs the club itself are not out of the woods yet. Some really concerning decisions if you can be objective about it.
Yes but they are awful decisions of the previous administration

Not trying to nitpick, but didn’t you guys prioritise midfielders (Bruhn) thus Henry wasn’t ‘a priority’ to then trade a young midfielder heading into his 4th season (only his 2nd injury free) for a forward who you guys were claiming ‘wasn’t a priority’ for 200 pages?

Compared to the other players Geelong traded in he was low priority for sure. But in the end, it all got done and everyone can leave happy.

This thread has been fun.

That's how you do trade wee...fortnight.

Have to laugh at the rhetoric that Geelong have been reamed by letting a kid that's not in their first 30 blokes picked leave, he'd have walked for nothing in 12 months in reality.

Except for Essava who also wanted to progress his career… Stuff him I guess.
So let's throw everyone out..

He's our only KPD depth, is ruck and forward depth.
He'll go next year.

So you guys ended up paying up in the end.

Looks like the the Mack blinked first 😁

Thought it was 25 - take it or leave it?
The deal is classic Geelong.

Let the other team have an insignificant win at the end of the deal so they can get the deal done without embarrassing themselves in front of their fan base. Geelong gets the player they want at a price that are happy with. And then when the deal is assessed in 2-3 years time it is clear that Geelong have made out like bandits.

Wells has been doing these types of deals for years, this deal has his stamp all over it.

Pleasure doing business with you, please come again👍

The deal has been done and Collingwood gets Tom Mitchell, they pick up a Brownlow winner! Sorry to lose Cooper Stephens, but can anyone make a case for him getting a game at Geelong in 2023 ahead of Bowes, Bruhn and Henry? Cats also have Parfitt who is a gun and Menegola who had injuries in 2022. Stephens will be a regular at Hawthorn who are obviously cleaning out and rebuilding. Ollie Henry will play round 1. Cats win the flag, keep pick 7 and bring in young talent like Henry, Bruhn and Bowes! Losing Stephens is a small price to pay in a trade period they clearly win.

OUT: Pick 7 or Future 1st at a minimum, don't even think about negotiating!!

IN: Geelong got reamed by giving up Pick 25 and a fringe player!!!

Oh gee opposition teams.....please don't ream us like that again......that would be so terrible.....

Mate, have you seen our trade period? Need to sign Mackie to a 10 year contract
Yeah it was all because of Mac that you got pick 7 and Bowes or was it?? Anyone could have done that trade. GC were desperate.
What else did he do. Guess he kept a first and future first. Thats a tick.
Not sure about all your picks 38, future 2nd, 3rd and 4th for pick 25. It was a bit on the poor side of things. but not a tragedy.
Did you rate Stephens? Was he at Henry's level? What about Henry and 25?
In the end you got Henry. He should be a gem. But it wasn't really the Mac who did that.
Over all I give the Mac a C+ (very dynamic manager and entertaining, but some poor overall decisions)

Anyone could have got on the front foot with Bowes and his manager 4 months ago, but only one club did. And that club reaped the rewards of the most lopsided trade in league history.

Yeah, anyone could have done it….
