Mackie nailed it. Wright saved face on the Henry deal by having the deals combined. I don't really know why the Hawks were punting Mitchell with only one year left on his contract, but they had their reasons for selling him cheap - unless Stephens is good?
10 out of 10 for the Cats. Not sure on the other two. Depends on Mitchell - seems too good a deal might be buyer beware, although McRae has worked with him before?
Anyway Pies have improved their 22 and added much needed depth.
Cats set themselves up beautifully for the future, but slightly backwards next year with Selwood gone. Bring on next season.
I love how you called stephens as VFL player in your post, but didn’t for Henry and Bowes like it’s different with them. You hoped nobody would notice….I love how you counted Pick 25, and the picks we traded for 25, and hoped nobody would notice.....
Have fun going out in straight sets againBoth will feed Oliver Pettracca Brayshaw all year.
Don't feed the troll.Nah, plus you’ve got NFI
How could you post this and not mention Gryan?
Not a fan of Tanner either tbh.
They look like leads out of Vampire Diaries.
Cmon mate thats rich. I dont necessarily agree with collingwoods overall strategy (particularly the paying grundy to go to a competitor in) but mitchell is a gun. Just about every club would be happy to have him for 2 r3s (in this draft especially).
I’m having too much fun calling out all the BSTake a breath. Seriously.

Would have been nice to find the Madge a second home.. but oh well.. not to be.
Did you like how he references Stephens as a VFL player in that post, but doesn’t do the same with Bowes and Henry? This thread is about Henry not Geelong's trade period.
Have fun going out in straight sets again
It’s only getting good now!Agreed.
Cracker of a week.
Plenty of laughs.
I'm gonna be honest, I don't know who that is. Is Madge his first name?
Jack Magden.
Our 15 best defender or something like that.
I do agree. I think rucks are valuable to your team as your mids are so good that they slay it if given a slight advantage. For other teams if you give mids a slight advantage, the advantage is not enough for them to exploit. Both will feed Oliver Pettracca Brayshaw all year.
After your success with Stengle as a DFA, Madge could be worth a shot. Got switched forward in the VFL late in the season and outperformed the guy playing next to him - some soft looking guy wearing 16, who seemed to spend most of the games running his fingers through his hair.Ah shame, we just filled out our quota of Jacks bringing Bowey in.
I sense a few Cats supporters will leave a little less happy than everyone else today after what they thought was going to happen
The only thing of value he traded was pick 18. It’s like the fishes and the loaves. What do you guys actually think Mackie did to get you pick 7? You do realise GC was shopping pick 7 around the comp with Bowes?
What Mackie did was bring in two prior first rounders, and paid for it with a first round pick, second round pick, and trading out a prior first rounder from the club. It’s not exactly magic.
Don’t even get me started on your pick swap with the Lions.
Jack Magden.
Our 15 best defender or something like that.
Why would Ollie be happiest? Why wouldn’t Tom Mitchell be happy to be going to a contender? Or Cooper Stephens to a young side he’ll get more opportunities at?The happiest person from all three clubs involved in the trade will be Ollie Henry, by far, and that says more about the clubs than anything else.
Yep, I expect he might. Just needed to find his feet after his leg break and hasn't had the clear run.No reason he doesn’t come good as a defender in 2023 either. I’ve always rated him as a footballer.
I disagree with that assessment, though. I thought Stephens had more upside. But I guess we will find out in the coming years. Don't get me wrong, I am glad we got Ollie - just didn't want to lose Stephens. That is not the right way to look at it.
Whatever picks were used to acquire Henry and Stephens are irrelevant. They are the definition of sunk cost.
Only think of what those players are going to produce in the next 10 years when assessing the deal.
The upside of Ollie Henry is infinitely higher than Cooper Stephens. No offence Cooper.
