I agree harry with blooding the young fellas but dont you think Timba has left it a little to late? As a direct result, it might even be the end of him at the Panthers due to a lot of disgruntled players. What are your thoughts?

Spoke to a high ranking Panther yesterday who told me they have as many as 6 players returning this weekend-Norton-Smith;Schilg;Hale;Brauer:pendergast and one other-also another 3 or so regular reserve players. That Corey might answer your question-loose that quality from your list and it will hurt any side around the 4 to 8 mark on the ladder. As for your comments in regard to disgruntled players-the blokes record stacks up with anyones-commenting outside the club- how would you or I know what the feel of the group is unless you are part of it?When footy clubs struggle there is always a bit of doom and gloom but those inclusions should help pep up their moods

Whispers of a finals return for Mark Bush. Can only strengthen their already impressive line up. Who can stop the Albury Tigers?

Think we may have seen the only team going around who can get anywhere near the tiges yesterday. Going down by 5 points after losing the inspirational jordan solimo early and jacob craven also getting injured was a fantastic effort by the pies, albury will be very nervous if they have to line up against the pies in the last game in september.

yeah i thought wang were pretty stiff yesterday in conditions that suited them to a tee... the amount of pressure they put on albury yesterday was sensational and i think there would be some sore tiger boys today.. i thought matt kelly was wangs best player he laid countless tackles and seemed to be at the bottom of every pack... also in my opinion i think the albury were as flat as yesterday and still won, they were lucky they had the class of chris hyde with his finishing... i must admit i like many others thought that albury already had in the bag, and yes they still are very much the favourites but having seen wang yesterday and yarra last week its not a certainty just yet... also has anyone heard how serious dan leslies injury is?

Wang will struggle to make it in the 5 let alone play off in the grand final. They are sitting 1 game out at the moment and with games coming up against North Albury,Lavington and Yarrawong in the coming month they might find themselves struggling in the last few weeks to even be in contention for finals.Credit to Wang yesterday from what I heard they should of won that game but well done to Albury for pulling through. Big game this week for Albury vs Wodonga. I reckon the Bulldogs will fancy there chances as they came close in round 3 this year but got over run by the Tigers in the last term.

wang are a better team than north albury and will make the finals

Would still think Wang are a good chance of making the 5, though this weeks game is a real 8 point clash. They have a better % than both Corowa & North, and have already played Wodonga and Albury twice, which gives them a better run home than the other two clubs.

Lots will depend on whether Leslie is fit to play or not, as North have a tough run in the next three matches (Wangaratta, Albury and Wodonga) and will struggle for tall targets without him, especially considering their absences in the ruck.

My veiws on the game are as follows.
-Albury didnt respond well to a hard tackling wang unit and its clearly a weakness.
-Matty Kelly confirmed himself as wangs most underated player(as debated earlier in this thread), closely followed by solimo
-Chris Hyde needs to take a long hard look in the mirror, behaviour in the 1st quarter was border line discracefull. Went the snipe and lost a fair amount of respect.. can kick a footy though
-Judenas(sp?) needs to do the same but hes a four quarter proformer, consistantly the worst ump iv seen in the o&m for the year
-Nothing changes Carey is still clearly from beechworth
-Hooper in the foward line looks dangerous, by still best served in the ruck
-Alburys still just going to plan hard to beat but will they hit a flat spot.....

Also on the wang making the finals debate, the run home they'v got realy suites to set them up to go into sept flying(lavi away is very winable, however yarra in yarra is a scary prospect) myrt plus corowa and raiders at the norm minns should see them win their last 3 however. Just observed that last years Did Simpson medalist has been cleared back to the club, Nicky Trenfield was at the game on crutches however but if hes put pen to paper would also be a massive bonus and to top it off Jesse Smiths been out of his moon boot for a couple weeks now and could be back for round 15s clash in yarra. Aaron Braden also returned via the twos this week.

Sorry to thoose on the board who will complain that the only club we ever talk about on here is wang.... popularities a bitch eh

Meaning?

everyone thinking they are a spent force will suit wang down to the ground in the run home. they were most unlucky v alb on saturday and should have put the game away in the last quarter. they could easily have 2 victories over the tigers this year. should also have beaten yarra the 1st time around. they have had 1 bad game for the season and it was in perhaps the most important v wodonga a couple of weeks back which means that any tilt at the flag will have to come from the elimination final now

they just need a better run with injuries in the 2nd half of the year to let them build up some momentum heading into sept. they still have the best midfield going around when they are all up and running, with sam higgs to be added to the mix from this week, and that will carry them a long way at the business end of the year. they will beat whoever they play in the elim final and no one will enjoy fronting up to them over the last 3 weeks of the finals from there

How was Sam going, why would he be back. Things not going his way?

not sure. i know he said at the start of the year that he would give the vfl another crack and if it didn't work out there was always the option of returning to wang mid year before the clearance deadline. i've heard that he has been cleared back to wang last week and will probably play v nth alb this week? can anyone confirm?

just been checking the odds for the O&M flag on sportsbet. albury into 1.70, yarra 2.50 rest can just about please themselves, wod 6.50 wang 13. i'd have albury and yarra closer in the betting. got a feeling there might not be that much between them. biased of course but wang at $13 is worth a flutter even from the elim final. their midfield once (or perhaps "if" the way it is going at the moment) all together and fit can carry them a long way in sept

Symo and Jess to play this week, jim allen a possibility to play after scans reveiled he doesnt have a fracture like first thought. Not sure whats going on with higgsy, o and m site has him cleared as of last week... might still b carring an injury as i havent herd much mentioned of him for this week.

Joel Mackie is a genuine star. Always seems to lift when needed and kicks important goals when his team most needs him. Lifted Albury to a great win today against Wodonga. If Shir was playing it might have been a diffeent story. Albury, Yarra and Wodonga are the only teams I think can win it from here.
Wang were good winners over North Albur while Corowa overrun Wang Rovers to win. Yarrawonga and Lavington also won games they were expected to win.

didn't get to the game sounded like a ripper though. mackie has had an awesome season and must be giving the league B&F a fair nudge. Wodonga would be more than happy not to be getting the attention that albury is, and will be fairly confident they can knock off the tigers come finals time. looks like it could be an interesting end to the season.

Went to Albury V Wodonga on Saturday and have to say it was the best game of football ive seen for awhile. It wasnt a fast flowing highly skilled (skills were good though) game of football - it was tough hard finals football!

Mackie and Hyde were Alburys best. Mackie keeps finding the pill and uses it pretty well. Breaks tackles or will always get a handball free. Hyde has the ability to gather 4,5,6 possies in 3-5 minutes and is pretty damaging with his kicking skills and decision making.

Raines and Murphy were probably wodongas best. Raines had plenty of the pill and used it pretty well. Reads the play well. Murphy played fullback and kept fowler pretty quiet but also had 15-16 touches himself including a few bouncing runs out of defence.

Macklay (tigers) and trew (dogs) were pretty hard at it.

Twitt was tagged but managed to make his presence felt with some solid work in and under the packs. He shirt fronted Packer (tigers) a ripper but was also legal. Packer was down for a few minutes and had a spell on the pine to recover.

Dogs would be happy to know they can match it with the best, especially knowing that shir and Ohlin will be available next time.

Albury know "its game on" now.

Will definately be keen to see these 2 teams meet again.

still michael lamb to come into the wodonga side due to return from overseas shortly, will take time for his match fitness tho.

Hall of Fame coming up next week.

A lot of leaks are coming out of head office.
The hall of fame is fast becoming a mates club, with club rep nominating mates to be inducted. Yarra's first inductee was Neil Davis last year. No disrespect, but John Brunner and Les Salty Parish were by far better players. But the mates club got Neil in.
Yarrawonga will get another inductee, and mark my words it will be another addition to the mates club.

;)

Brunner couldn't be inducted. Criteria states you have to be retired out of the game for at least five years. Brunner played last year in the bush.

Great game yesterday at Wodonga with the visitors in the Wodonga Raiders coming from behind with a spirited 5 point win.

Most supporters could not get in the rooms afterwards to sing the song which was sung as loud as I have ever heard it.

The Raiders have shown they are going to be a thorn in all teams sides and maybe unsettling the top five before the season is out.

It was vintage Mark Doolan who led a very evenly balanced and underated side.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Very dissapointing for the Bulldogs yesterday had a 5 goal lead for most of the game to mid way through the 3rd quarter and gave it away. Shir sat out again and also Chris Macey a very important player for the Bulldogs was missing. Raiders have got close to a few good teams this year but they finally pulled of a upset. Bulldogs should still make top 3 as the teams below them in Wang and Corowa had loses in games they needed to win to put real pressure on the top 3. Lavington had a good win against Wang I see anyone see the game?

yeah went and had a look at the lavy/wang match was pretty close all day with the excemption of the third term where the panthers kicked six goals to 2 to set up their win... skillsy played a great game of half back and was lavys best along with schilgy and billy... i thought hooper, mcormick and smith played well for wang.. both sides struggled for a marking forward again...

Lavi proved once again how hard they are to beat at home. Made the pies hurt when they put in the most pittifull 20 mins(3rd term) i'v seen from them since the dark old days would have been alot worse if Dave Steer wasnt so darn good. Credit to the pies came out firing in the 4th showed alot of spirt and everyone at the ground knows they would have run away with it if D Porter hadn't hit the post on the run, but credit to the panthers were able to get back into the play and eventualy hold on.
Maggies lack of a tall marking option is blindingly obvious, Hayse struggled all day with the ball spilling from the dukes countlessly, young Josh Owen looks a preseason away from being a real threat in the 1s but has abit to work with. Maybe Brendan Keir is the answer to the pies woes up forward looked like having a "fair scoff" before getting injured last year and is playing into some fantastic form in the ruck/forward for the twos maybe the selection comitee should take a long look at the option ;) eh norts. Like to mention the great showing of a young pie in Matt Robinson came in for Nick Tonini and unlike Nick was able to actualy have a positive impact on the team amazing what a player taller then his socks can do.... Still think pies should hold onto their spot in the finals but the great form of the raiders will throw a spanner in the works for afew teams by the end of the year possibly the pies come round 18
