Yeah i'm interested to see to - the Dogs have always managed to have a plethora of young locals stepping up - they have one of the better development systems in the OM. Interesting to see the AWJFL attempt to "even" up the comp by changing the age groups - hence alot of young Dogs were lost to bush footy - ridiculous move, they should have been helping strengthen the weak clubs, not weaken the stronger junior clubs in order to make it even.

To my Knowledge ur correct, from what i have heard, its true.. no one around north albury have any respect from Leslie, word has it that his to arrogant to even talk to his own team mates, and thats the reason players have left E.g. A.Brown
And i have got no idea what the go is with recuits they have some good kids coming thru but its not going to be good enough for O&M standard, i did hear that hoggy did speak to a couple players from the VFL havent heard anything more..

who r the good kids coming thru at north albury

Young Travis Hodgson looks like he'll develop into a good player some day. Might be just a little bit heavy.

Ladder Prediction for 2009.

Albury
Wodonga
Yarra
Lavington
Corowa
--------------
Wangaratta
North Alb
Wang Rovers
Raiders
Myrt

Anyone else...

y does most people hate travis hodgson?
From what i have heard he talks the talk but doesnt deliver. How can he promise a young kid 9 senior games before the season had even started n the kid played 3rds last year. He hardly trains which u can clearly see. He trys too be every ones mate but will stab u in the back when the chance arrives.

Corowa Rutherglen have got themselves a gun in Robbie Ferraro. Has torn EFL Sides to shreds. In and under player who also has a massive motor. Will provide plenty of ball for the outside runners and can play a shut down roll if required.

Is Lee Schmidt staying at Corowa or not?
I would have thought if he was going to South Adelaide he would have been over there training and giving himself the best chance to make the grade.
Good luck to him if he does go, but CR will need him to stay if they are to be a finals certainty given the expected improvement from Albury and Lavington, Wodonga, Wang and Yarra. all expected to stay very competitive.
They are the vulnerable ones coz u can forget the rest playing finals on off-season movements to date.
Thoughts?

Corowa can't afford to loose any locals as there depth is there problem.Lee Fazerlacky has gone up the gold coast as previuosly mentioned-he will be a big loss. Not a superstar but a local who performed run with roles very effectively in the last couple of years.
Speaking of depth-which clubs have recruited local country league boys that mighn't grab the headlines-but will play senior footy on wings/flanks/pockets etc add to depth and help their club go deeper than they may have without them in september.
Jack Rhodes at Wodonga and Cameron McNeil at Lavington are two i can think of that will be very good role players at their club as both will have the ability to slot into a second or third rotation of on ballers at their respective clubs.

pretty good assessment i think. on off season movements so far it is hard to see any of myrtleford, raiders, rovers or nth alb even getting close to playing finals. albury obviously the big mover from outside last year's 5, C/R looking the most likely to make way for them. wod should improve while not much has been heard from the yarra and lavi camps altho that's not unsual esp in lavi's case and they should both be around the mark. still a bit of a question mark at wang with a couple more possible key departures from the midfield division in higgs and mccormick which would have a big bearing on their top 3 prospects

Brunnenmeyer from Walla at Lavington

anyone else heard the rumour that wodonga working very hard on jamie allan from rovers and might be close to getting their man? would be a massive get for the dogs. also reported in the BM today that lavi very close to getting bill neely from the ACT. mccormick has also committed to wang for 09

if billy was to play in the O&M he would tear every side in this comp to shreds. his preparation is meticulous and would easily make guys like mccormack look second rate. having played with him for a couple of years id have to say he is one of the best midfielders in australia if not the best outside the afl and could easily play state league. i think if my memory serves me hes won 5 best and fairests in 5 years, 2 of them in the SANFL. lavi would have to have thrown some massive coin at him to get him though, i know he was getting over 40 grand a year up in canberra.

yeah i honestly didint think lavi had the funds to get him, youd have to expect him to be on 40- 45 000 per season which was his price in canberra, then the transfer fee would be close to 20 000. and i doubt hed be paying his own way down from the ACT to play, or if he relocates to albury, that he would pay for any of that... so your looking at close to
70 000 in total. having said that, hes definatly worth it

Would the 45k you quote include his job as he was working for Anslie at some stage in development?

Is there a transfer fee as he is not going to a state league?

Will be a good get for the Panthers.

i heard this morning that the neely to lavi deal is as good as done and will be announced next week. no mention of the sort of coin he's looking at tho

hope so... i'm in close contact with the coach and he hasn't said much. i'm certain Billy is not gunna get that sorta coin at Lavi, i'd suggest he has taken a pay cut and a significant one at that. it'll be good to see him in the Panthers colours, we've played practice matches against him over the last few years and he has always caused us plenty of grief.

Transfer fee?Did they not end before Billy would have been born?I honestly haven't heard of clubs paying a transfer fee for players(unless they were contracted) for a long time.
Think Virgin Blue may have his signature on board today....
