If he picks it up and flicks it to Curtis we win. Jy appeared absolutely spent which may have played a part. Looked like he copped a whack mid way through the last and kind of seemed concussed/dazed
Was definitely groggy after that incident and not in a Steven May kind of way either.

Oh! There it is! Found it!

Oh I may have put $500 on us to win .
so yes I’m feeling very violated atm.

Oh well as we say.

I cop shit for picking on players but I’ve never picked on Zurhaar as one example.

That first quarter cost us and **** me . I’m in no place to forgive them just now .

Loved the fight back and think Teakle may have a future . Plenty to like but I’m still 500 out of pocket lol

We literally did let that one slip.
The umpiring was disappointing but it wasn't the reason we lost. Too many bad decisions and we obviously need to weed out some players that are holding us back, and some of them aren't obvious and maybe unpopular.

Alot and i mean alot haven't been in winnable positions like this though.

We needed more cool heads and experienced players to not turn it over and not panic when the game is on the line, but unfortunately a lot of the players haven't

I’m a big knocker of Curtis Taylor but he’s starting to look like he belongs. Using his body a lot better and presenting very well.

Think a few are being a bit harsh on Larkey. Played a fairly selfless game I thought. Tried to drag May out a lot in that last quarter.

PS May…. Absolute piece of 💩
agree with may being a POS but he smashed larkey tonight unfortunately!

Frustrating to lose a second close one in a row - especially when the clincher for us finally having turned the corner will be starting to string a consistent run of victories together.

But I think we can at least say we're tracking okay after that. Some of the early signs were worrying - LDU's form has been really excellent in the last month or so but I thought some of his defensive efforts reverted to the half-hearted early, Xerri was trying to manufacture blind clearances again, and we were getting caught chipping the back around the backline a bit due to Melbourne's defensive structure - but to play a sound second quarter to keep ourselves well in it despite relatively little scoreboard reward showed we weren't the easily-cowed side of the first half of the season. Thought we were really unfortunate to be down as much as we were by 3QT, with some really dubious officiating not helping matters, and obviously managing to claw our way back with heightened pressure, to the point of almost pinching it in the last, is a really positive sign as well. So altogether, pretty okay with what transpired despite being absolutely over losing as our default state.

On some individuals:
Archer coming into some great form is really good news for us given how easily opposition smalls tend to dominate against us historically. Curtis pushing up the ground a bit more didn't always work out for us tonight but I think it's a good sign for our versatility in games to come if both he and Ford are doing that. Phillips in negating roles seems to be working alright, ideally he'll be supplanting Shiels' place in the team to continue doing that. I've liked both Pink and Teakle in the side for their competitiveness and structural value - certainly offering more than Coleman-Jones, or Greenwood as second tall, or no second tall at all - but they'll ultimately only be stopgaps if they can't convert their opportunities, unusually for us accuracy was a problem early. Taylor is someone I'd fully written off the moment he wasn't getting picked early in the season (was baffled he held his spot so much in 2023 despite playing with complete on-field anonymity), but we've looked better structurally since he came into the team in R10 and his form has been decent each game too - maybe still something to work with.

It really feels like we just need a couple of statement wins to cement this better form and finally put the hellscape of the last 5 seasons behind us. Unfortunate, and disappointing, that it wasn't last week and tonight, and that we're still mired in 18th, but it's finally tangible - we're close to being back, and it's hard to be too despondent about that.

I can’t wait for us to be good again. To see the energy our fans brought tonight, it’s going to be brilliant when we start winning games. It’s been a long, horrible, disheartening run but we are going to make hay as a fan base when that sun starts shining again

My greatest fear coming into tonight was whether we’d be able to maintain the momentum of the last few weeks. There’s enough of a sample size now to say that we’ve been very competitive in the last 4 games. We have officially turned the corner. And whilst a couple of extra wins would have been great we are heading in the right direction another good trade and draft period and we’ll be well on our way.
Really impressed with the last 3 weeks but next week worries me. The Bulldogs are just about our worst match-up. :(

Have to disagree, im happy with the improvement, but I’m not going to applaud a loss.
They’re applauding the competitiveness.
Not the loss.

I’m so happy we can start to feel proud of this team again.

As a North supporter living in Adelaide, I haven’t had this many texts (over the last two weeks) since our 2014/15 finals runs.

I hate that we lost, but I also applaud the effort.
