Then I guess we'll agree to disagree - WAFL isn't even close to SANFL standard, let alone VFL standard.I disagree with VFL being better than WAFL
SANFL is for sure but not VFL
A good example is Hugh Dixon doing the reverse of Voss, currently third in the coleman (VFL) with 23 goals, he only kicked 17 for the premiers last year
it goes SANFL > WAFL >>VFL IMOThen I guess we'll agree to disagree - WAFL isn't even close to SANFL standard, let alone VFL standard.
Voss did win a BnF at Essendon, its not like he didn't dominate VFL as wellVoss does reflect the talent level difference between WAFL and VFL - average WAFL is just several tiers below average WAFL. So a top level VFL player like Voss really stands out at WAFL.
Not sure exactly why - budgets are part of it obviously but VFL clubs seem to do better at recruiting and developing fringe or rebound players too.
That is my whole point - he dominated VFL and is an uber dominator at WAFL level.Voss did win a BnF at Essendon, its not like he didn't dominate VFL as well
Really, really good summary of the vital parts of that last 2 minutes (90 seconds??) of play that got Peel over the line...That was a good game from the point of view of winning a close one.
Simpson's pass to Voss to put Peel in front and an excellent conversion. Voss going behind the ball at the centre bounce to take a saving mark. Murphy spoiling for WP's last attack and Stanley being able to hit Tregenza with a pass to maintain possession before the siren.
I watch a bit of VFL via 7 Plus. It is hard to compare VFL to WAFL as so many AFL reserve players running around. Many of the teams are similar to Peel without the number restrictions. You compare say Port Melbourne to West Perth and the level is on par. Compare Glenelg or Woodville-West Torrens to West Perth or East Fremantle and the SANFL is a level above.Voss did win a BnF at Essendon, its not like he didn't dominate VFL as well
Nah, hes just in the top team over hereThat is my whole point - he dominated VFL and is an uber dominator at WAFL level.
He had a few moments he’d like to forget. Especially going half arsed with one hand when ball was kicked on his head. One thing he did do consistently though is use the ball well by foot.Really, really good summary of the vital parts of that last 2 minutes (90 seconds??) of play that got Peel over the line...
Easily Stanley's best passage of play in an otherwise dirty day for him, and great to see young Simpson step up too. Reidy is just impressing me so much with his stamina and development too.
Who? I've not really seen that the last couple of months. And people want Hughes back in the team
In Cooper’s first game against Easts I think he received a of big hit and then again in another game.. I wonder if that has contributed to some of your observed timidity? He had a few moments he’d like to forget. Especially going half arsed with one hand when ball was kicked on his head. One thing he did do consistently though is use the ball well by foot.
I found a few of them (minus Emmett and Grey) just stood around not wanting to get their hands dirty. That included Simpson and Stanley.
Emmett still a bit messy at times but he puts his head over the ball and great tacking pressure. Had a decent game.
Simpson just a little timid for the contest. Good example was in the last quarter a high ball that he didn’t go hard for and the smaller West Perth player Hinder?? Put his body on the line and took a good defensive mark. Another moment soon after the ball was in the middle of some players in front of Simpson and he pulled back and let the West get to the ball first. Not long after we saw the very best of Cooper - running full speed onto a bouncing ball, taking a bounce at the same time as a nice side step composing himself lowering the eyes and positioning the ball perfectly for Voss.
Cooper needs a good solid pre-season to put on some size and get hungrier for the contest but there is a good long term player there.
Also can we please have posters stop pushing for Delean to be promoted to AFL. No where near it. Those same posters need to actually watch some Peel games. He has some tricks but we need to be patient with him and let him develop in the WAFL. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him dropped to reserves to be honest.
