Well we all know a decade of incompetent management and unaccountability under Chapman has gutted out the club and destroyed its culture.

Compiling our bleak outlook is poor recruitment: a series of draft donuts, picking undersized midfielders year after year then finally using our best draft pick in living memory on a defender.

No one has ever quite needed pick 1 to get their rebuild going the way we do now.

Sure we won't actually get access to the best player with pick 1, that will go naturally go to a Victorian team through some "academy" shenanigans.

But the higher the pick the harder it will be for our recruiting team to trade it down for lamer picks.

And it doesn't get higher than pick 1.

Rest easy crows fans.

Three rounds in and it's all going to plan:

A big game coming up tonight with Freo vying to swoop in below us, but our percentage looks strong. As in really bad. As in good.

This is what kept Carlton fans entertained for a decade so I'm sure we can dig it for 20fcuking20.

Let's keep up the good work and land pick 1!

Imagine the melts if we ignored Mids again and drafted Thilthorpe*

*Not saying I’m against it, Elite KPFs don’t grow on trees...
I am. Elite mids are the ones that give your team the opportunity to score.

It is an absolute non-negotiable that we take the best mid available with our first pick.

Thilthorpe is a must IMO.

Walker is cooked, EH hasn’t come on, and that’s about it. Frampton is a dud.

Thilthorpe is a skilled, quick and agile KPF/Ruck at about 200cm. Was already playing league footy last year.

From SA and a Crows fan to top it off.

No brainer for me.

Whilst I tend to agree, I don’t feel it should be a non negotiable. Nonetheless, ours will be a very interesting exercise in list rebuilding and list management.

I feel there is some stock in the thought that you set up your spine first, as Key position players take longer to develop, and then go hard on Mids, and lets be honest here, we’re gonna have a few goes at the pointy end of the draft in the next 2-3 years. This ship ain’t turning around in 1 year.

A spine of Butts-McAsey-(Thilthorpe)-Fog is intriguing. Getting smashed every weekend out of the midfield is not intriguing.

We will coach that out of him no worries.;) I am all for drafting him, but we need to have at least 2 top 5 picks and 3 in the top 10 to really get this ship turned around. How we get there is Justin's and Hamish's problem. Problem is I don't hold much faith in Reid getting the job done.

Definitely a need but if this is our one and only elite end of the draft pick, I will be ready to give up.

We desperately need some elite class in the midfield and have for years. Think Pendlebury. Someone with high iq who creates play and rarely ever makes bad decisions. Matt Rowell would have been perfect. He would already be our best midfielder. I'm sick of watching dumb ****ing footballers at the crows.

Yep we badly need high end mids too.

We’re seeing some real LM decay - holes everywhere. We got a few bodies at the end of last year, but I don’t know how anyone involved in this mess have kept their jobs.

I wouldn’t worry that this is our only bite of the cherry, pretty sure we’ll be buying the whole bag of cherries over the next 2 to 3 years.
