Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

I get the feeling there is a motive behind this thread, and it aint to inform people of a proposed trade......

Hell it got me to post and I only ever read this board.

Like what? The Brown rumour is hardly new.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

**** i hope this isn't true. I don't even want burgoyne, he's old and not needed. I know why we and guys on here do want him but its not worth it. Keep the first round pick and look for someone we can develop into a KPP. Trade week can't end soon enough. We did one deal, that's enough.

Again, I'll start with "if true"- do you think that the one deal you did of getting Gibson could have been seen as filling the role Brown plays, thereby making Brown expendable?

Gibson in, Brown out?

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

I will do a Lloyd and sniper every single Hawthorn official if this rumour turns out to be true...

And I'm not kidding!!

A big NO to Browndog being traded! They can keep Burgoyne for all I care!

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

You got me...

There is a motive behind this thread and to be honest I am glad to have it all out in the open...

The motive of course being (like listed in my original post):
a) Can anyone confirm it?
b) What do people think?

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

in any event...dont think brown would want to go to adelaide anyway

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

Can I pose another hypothetical? Good. I will.

If, and i stress, if, Brown is up as part of the Burgoyne deal, don't you think there has to be more to it than coolly moving around players like chess pieces?

There could potentially be a host of reasons, rather than the knee-jerk 'Burgoyne at any costs reaction'?

If this deal goes ahead, again i stress, if I hope some illumination is forthcoming.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

If this trade goes ahead.......all i see is pain, we're ripping the heart and soul out of our club.......He bleeds brown and Gold more than any player currently.

Oh dear.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

Whats to confirm?

At this stage it's a proposal, the entire deal hinges on Browns decison.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

I'll just wait for confirmation from the club. Otherwise its just rumour.

You obviously forgot to take your hysteria pill before posting. Tsskkk

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

If the Hawks trade Campbell Brown, then they go a long way to lose the very fabric from which this jumper gets it's power.

Do not mistake things. We won the 2008 Grand Final because our boys wanted it more. They played out of their skins for each other and for the BROWN & gold jumper that has given us so much joy.

It was that 1% of heart, 1% of teamwork, 1% of passion that got us over the line. You cannot replace that.

But you can lose it.

Remember it's BROWN & Gold.

Our defense lacks more than one player. Gibson is there to strenghen our defense and I see both Brownie and Gibson in our defense next year :)

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

What about the goal post incident in the Adelaide elimination final?

Very discerning.

I could understand if he had a semi career threatening injury and we're trying to get what we can now or even if the GC were tapping him up but that's a year early????

Smells like BS to me.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

If this is true, Browny wont go, why would he? He's probably shattered they asked him if he'd be interested. I would think his answer should be "no, im not interested but im ******* insulted".

A journo put forward a theory at a Grand Final breakfast the other day that some clubs would be actively seeking to trade players before the Gold Coast came into being.

Interesting theory.

All I'm saying is that if a trade like this was to go through there would be a raft of reasons.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

If you had to pick one of our top 10 players from this year to trade for Burgoyne who would it be?

1.Sam Mitchell
2.Cyril Rioli
3.Lance Franklin
4.Brad Sewell
5.Chance Bateman
6.Luke Hodge
7.Jarryd Roughead
8.Campbell Brown
9.Grant Birchall
10.Jordan Lewis

Very hard decision but for me it's Browny. :(

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

i dont know who the player is, but it seems we have agreed a trade with port
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/dogs-lock-lake-down/story-e6frf9nx-1225783552155

Port Adelaide's disappointment at missing out on Andrew Lovett yesterday seemed likely to scuttle a deal that would send Burgoyne to Hawthorn.

The initial deal would have seen Burgoyne go to the Hawks, Lovett to Port Adelaide, and Hawks forward Mark Williams to Essendon.

But late yesterday, Hawthorn and Port agreed they would deal on Burgoyne, with the Hawks pick nine and a player going to the Power.

"We and Hawthorn have identified a player we are both happy to trade," Port football manager Peter Rohde said last night. "We now have to come to terms with the player."

It is not known if that player is stillWilliams, or if Port Adelaide has held out for a quality runner.

Burgoyne's manager Ben Williams denied reports that his client had met with Demon Aaron Davey in Melbourne's city district yesterday.

Well, well. The rumour now has some backing.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

H2F - you and I have had this discussion. We know you sit on the Nay, me I sit with the Yay side.

Wasn't Dew reported to have said Browny was not that popular with the players?

I didnt rate Brownys year this year. Too small to play key back when we needed one. There are better small forwards like Ozzie and Rioli.

Maybe the Hawks are doing Browny a favour? A change of club might help him settle into a permanent position.

We can afford to lose Browny and maybe both player and club will secure a win win.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

Well, it looks like we'll find out if and at what cost.

Just as a parting thought, I got 2 emails tonight from very reliable sources, detailing 2 other players that Hawthorn have offered Port. A different player from each source!

This was before the Brown stuff broke!

And these sources are very, very good. But this is trade week and scuttlebutt is the currency.

Don't lose sleep over it. It literally could be anybody or nothing.

Afterall, one of the most deplorable broadcasters in Brad Hardy 'broke' the story.

And for you people who know how much I loath Doran and Hutchy, Brad makes them look like Pullitzer Prize winners.

Don't know about you, but I thought Max Rooke was pretty good for Geelong in the grand final.......

If this is true its gonna hurt.

Re: Pick 9 + Campbell Brown for Burgoyne??

Brown bleeds brown and gold. He wears a brown and gold mouthguard.
He went to school in Melbourne and lives here. Gets on well with the other boys in the team. Loves racing.

I find it very hard to believe that he would agree to a trade.

I don't think Hawthorn would put him up for trade either. If they have I will be disgusted.

grizzlym off topic but do you work in the media??

As for the rumour, sure Mundy (aka pav) may be a troll on occasion but he does have very good knowledge of young recruits and junior level players, as well as some very informative opinions on players.

I would say his football knowledge is excellent (not that that means anything coming from me) and would hold is opinions in very high regard if I didn't have to take so many of them with a grain of salt.

Sure be skeptical but don't dismiss everything he says.

Apart from that, you could take both the statements in that article and those quoted earlier as anecdotal evidence but they do not actually prove anything.
