Koch's comment a few years ago about wanting to make Ken Hinkley a 10 year coach may have been more profound than was originally thought.

The current hierarchy has embraced mediocrity in all its forms, and unfortunately we are no longer Port Adelaide, we haven't been for years, and quite possibly we never will be again! :(

C'est la f****** vie!

Was spoken about about an hour ago on trade radio. The prevailing view amongst list managers etc is that GC are open to trading it.
Did they give an indication if they were wanting a player or they were after more picks?

Not gonna lie, little nervous about the crows holding all these high picks and not doing anything with them yet.

What do they currently have?

And I just feel we’re currently cooking something up with Gold Coast involving a pick swap and player, and it’s the only reason Jack Hombsch hasn’t been traded yet. You’d think if it was just a simple case of “Jack Hombsch to Gold Coast” it would have been done long before now.

I know the train of thought would be to make Hawthorn overpay for Wingard as he is contracted and worst case scenario would be he leaves at end of contract and we get a band 1 compensation BUT...

If we are hoarding cap space and are attempting to lure a big money Free Agent next season, wouldn't that then rule us out of compensation for Wingard? If so then we don't really have the negotiating power and need to get a trade done this period. If that of course is the plan.....and who F*cking knows if there is an actual plan this trade period.
We aren't attracting any big name free agents again for a long time.

I'm concerned if we are going for pick 3 and Wingard doesn't get traded does that mean we have pick 3 and no other picks? All we have is 6 and 10.
How are we actually getting pick 3 again?

Yeah there must be something holding the hombsch trade up.

Waiting for other things to fall? Gcs don’t have any other business other than hall leaving which is not really going to effect anything and this possible trade of 3.

I’m not keen at trading 6 down to 3.

Rankine will be there are 6 unless crows trade up and then one of smith or Rozee are there.

6+10+ hombsch

For

3 + 19 is not good value for us at all.

Trading 10 down to 19 to trade up 6 to 3. Meh.

But I can’t see gcs giving up pick 2 as they should be mad to give up luko

Can they give up more that makes it worth it one our end?

Just maybe we are not banking salary to get a free agent. Maybe we want to play the current players a bit more and maybe we don’t have the money to spend.

Plough is such a dickhead. He spends the past week talking down Wingard’s value and now the talk turns to Tom Scully.

Barrett - “You’d think Hawthorn would be a bit wary of Scully given his injury history and such...”

Wallace - “SUCH upside though.....”

Yeah Plough, and I suppose Wingard is some scrub who is never done anything.....

Idiot.

Our club said there are 12 quality players in the draft. The paper referred to eight.

So we will get one maybe two good players with our current picks. I am happy.

But to loose Wingard, we should have a top five pick to move him on, nothing less.

To be fair, Scully has the advantage of once playing for a Melbourne-based club. That automatically makes you a better player.

He's an idiot, but it's partly understandable. In addition to having created an environment that didn't put any fear into players (no one traded out that didn't request it firstly since Hinkley arrived), leading to players thinking they could continue to get away with everything, our game plan in 2018, made every player on the list look their worst.

If Trade week is like players showing their wares as Victoria Secret models, then Port's 2018 game plan is sending them there wearing granny undies, ugg boots and platted underarm hair.

And to think it was down to him and Clarkson for the hawthorn job all those years ago.
