Bowlers have bowled reasonably well on a pitch not offering much, reckon it’ll turn a bit later in the match.

Shan Masood has always been an aesthetically pleasing bat to watch without being able to consistently produce at Test level. Given he's now captain they'll really need him to start scoring as well as his batting looks.

He and Babar right up there as the most aesthetically pleasing partnership in Test cricket, probably battling with Markram and Petersen from South Africa.

They might change the team for the tests but surely Mohammad Rizwan is first choice over Sarfaraz Ahmed?

In Tests it's debatable. Sarfraz is a very good bat and keeper. Rizwan for LO cricket.

Looks like most of their batters got a decent hitout today and the mighty Shan Masood has scored a hundred.

Not sure about our bowling selections for this game  Murphy aside.

They dropped Rizwan after England beat them 3-0 at home and Sarfaraz has kept the last 2 series. He got a hundred against New Zealand although he did get concussed in the last Test they played v Sri Lanka and Rizwan replaced him as concussion sub. However I suspect Sarfaraz is still the no.1 keeper at the moment.

Rizwan came out and said he asked to be dropped which was all a bit weird. Pakistan though, it's always weird.

At Test level, Cam Green has bowled 72 overs inside the first 25 and taken 7 wkts @ 36.14.

You'd be mad to bowl him in front of a front line bowler if they're fit to bowl.

First 25 is different to last 25 of ball.

Plus stats don't say everything - perhaps the only time he bowled in the first 25 was when the pitch was flat and the others getting carted.

A bit like macgill's figures being inflated due to playing on spinning pitches when there was a requirement for 2 spinners.

Is Green as good as the big 3 ? No. But he does allow them to bowl at their peak - which means not burning them out day 1

There’s some good YouTube footage of Masood having some net sessions with the bloke who coaches Teague Wyllie from Pakistans last tour

Murphy didn't show a lot today. Maybe conditions don't suit, we'll have to wait and see how their spinners go, but he didn't look like holding up an end with controlling the RR or look overly like taking a wicket. Is coming back from injury though, isn't he? Wonder if he really should've been in this match if that's the case.

Supposed to be big wraps on Buckingham....

I haven't seen him much at all. Is he living up to the potential?

I went out during the last session, but he was easily the pick of our bowlers up til tea. Such a nice action, it’s so straight and fluid, he doesn’t look like a guy who is wrecking his body every time he bowls.

I don’t reckon any of the bowlers bar Murphy are in the frame, and a mostly there to put a shift in. Having said that, hats off to the palace for picking up 3

Reckon he’s there for experience and to get some overs in, pitch wasn’t offering much today, first few sessions tomorrow should be similar you’d expect. I believe he has had a niggle.

As I think we discussed in the other thread, the question is what he can do on our very un-spin friendly pitches. I think we don't appreciate how good Lyon is playing so many games in the off-spinners graveyard that is Australia.

Also bowling spin on dead pitch to these batsman is not going to be a fun time. They can all play spin, it's the bounce that bothers them.
