Speaker Mike Johnson has released a statement ordering the American flags above the United States Capitol Building to be flown at full-staff, despite longstanding United States policy requiring flags to be flown at half-staff in the thirty days following the death of a current or former President.

I'm surprised he managed to get Trump's knob out of his mouth long enough to release a statement.

or just someone other than the schlub who got it printed to take a quick look before going out there with it. Seriously, no one did a double check of their stuff before. They've been preparing for this hearing a while you'd think.
It could have been worse , a photo of faux boys junk

I thought that would be up to the DC Mayor?

Hunter Biden had serious credentials, and the sort of resume you often see in people appointed to boards.

To my shame, this is a piece of right wing propaganda I completely bought until I saw someone go through his actual backstory and achievements.

The right constantly spun Hunter as a crackhead loser, because this then let them spin the fact he was on company boards as de facto evidence of Biden family corruption.

Reality is, he graduated near the top of the class from America's most prestigious law school, had a distinguished and successful career in a major law firm, and from there, multiple successful stints on company boards, because companies like having a lawyer or 2 on their boards.

His issues with drugs, after a series of family tragedies, came after this.

Hunter was very smart, very highly educated and had a very successful career in law, and a number of very prominent roles on company boards.

While I bought the bullshit to my shame, there is enough info out there that I figured out what was going on. If you didn't, you may need to recheck the calibration of your bullshit meter, I think it's off.

Thank you for posting this.

I'm as guilty as any other in assumptions.

I read your post a few days ago, and my initial reaction was to be defensive.
I like to think that I try to be unbiased, and will research all of my positions. So you pointing out such a huge gap, is clearly an attack on me, that I need to defend...
But you're completely right.
In terms of H.Biden, I was sucked into desperately agreeing that he was the scum of the Earth, in order to seem non-partisan.

He is a drugged up washout, who only got anything due to family connections.
I had no idea of his education or background...

It's very much the same as the 'Steele dossier' and Russian election interference.
We all spend so much time trying to be accepting and impartial, we let rampant and deliberate misinformation take control of the narrative.

I think your post should be added to Biden threads. And linked whenever 'Burisma' is mentioned.

Thank you for taking the time to actually explain such clear information in a way that I can accept without worrying about appearing 'partisan'.

It's one of the best posts on this forum.

It's nice to see someone check info that contradicts their presuppositions.

Not doing this enough is something we are all guilty of.

I've discovered it's really easy to spot when people you disagree with are being lied to, but really hard to spot lies directed at you, because those lies tend to confirm your biases.

We all assume if we are being deceived, it's by the other side, but whatever side of politics your from, the most damaging lies come from your side, the lies fit your world view, you don't check them, because they seem obviously true.

People naturally fact check that which sounds like bullshit, but they most need to fact check the stuff that doesn't, that's where the clever lies are. But it's really hard to do.

I've been caught several times repeating stuff that just seemed like it should be true, to discover later it wasn't, and I had never checked.

Depending on how bad the first year goes, it might only be 2 years of being a total shit show. Maybe.
They will suppress the vote even more now they have almost absolute power. It has been done this way in other countries when authoritarians come into power and decide to stay. The mob is running the US now, TOC.
