McKenzie injured AGAIN!
Might be time to stick a fork in him. Clurey has another year on his deal so could stay as a depth full back if they want to quit playing him on the wing.

Clurey has played 1 game in the last 2 years, he is gone 100%. Some Vic club will take him for peanuts and I reckon we'll be okay with it. He's put in his time here and deserves a chance at more game time elsewhere if he can get it.

Well we'd need to recruit an experienced key back then if both Clurey and McKenzie go. Walsh and Kyle Marshall are still kids.

His AFL career is over, no one is picking him up or trading anything for him. I suspect he will play out his final year here as depth, with McKenzie delisted.

I'm honestly at the stage where I'd rather we just let the kids take it on and see if they can step up rather than rely on some past-it veteran that is just a break glass in case of emergency standing in the way of their development and opportunities

What club is Clurey getting more gametime at? A key defender who wasn't best 22 at 2023 Port Adelaide isn't going to be best 22 anywhere else either.

Keeping both McKenzie and Clurey is pointless, and Clurey is contracted, so we'll cut McKenzie.

Depends when the injury happens. Sav goes down in Round 3, sure. Sav goes down in a prelim, you go with experience.

As Schulz said, depends on time. You aren't picking Walsh in a GF to fill a hole.

It's also shit for the development of Walsh, Marshall, etc to be left without senior support when developing in the SANFL.

Good list management would see us with 1 senior player in reserve. If he wasn't contracted he would be gone, but he should be used to build around next year. At SANFL level he is an outstanding defender and good one to back our juniors up.

The problem this year is probably that we thought McKenzie would be the break glass backup, but he's spent the whole year injured.

Any sign of that basketballer who was mooted as a possible "In" after the bye?

They name teams on Thursday night, then you have to wait until the first bounce to know who is actually playing.

Keen to know who the travelling emergency is. Would hope that we see Dixon, Finlayson, Jones at SANFL level. Visentini as travelling emergency would have the least impact on this side.

You would think at least one of Jones / Lorenz / Visentini would play

I remember way back in our first or second season in the AFL I was in the bar at Bell's Hotel and was talking to Nigel Fiegert who made the trip across to Melbourne as the traveling emergency back in the days when they only took one emergency. Nigel was quite pissed off that he had to come to Melbourne then fly back to Adelaide and play in the SANFL the next day. I remember him saying, 'Great preparation for a League game isn't it ?' I wonder how many of today's crew would put that much feeling in to an SANFL game? Maybe it is the AFL rules but in the Hinkley era they seem to see a need to fly half the list interstate and those players have little passion for playing SANFL footy.
