it would've cost Geelong the game against Brisbane at Kardinia Park and that is not what we want to happen.

Whose this “we” you’re talking about?

I‘d argue that Brisbane winning a thriller at Kardinia is a better result for the AFL overall than what happened last night.

We is Victoria.

The sooner all of the interstate raiders band together and realise this league is us vs them the better.

I actually thought Brisbane got the better ride from the umps until the last non decision

Honestly, in the first half there were some interesting decisions going the Lions way. I feel like in the last 5 minutes, time and time again the umpires begin to let things go to artificially manufacture 'excitement' and a 'free flowing' game, so let certain calls go - I notice this a lot with holding the ball. It feels like that is what happened last night.

I think the expectations for a bloke who hasn't taken the field for about 3 years to dominate are a bit unrealistic, no matter how good he once was.
I expect Buddy to struggle to get a kick
Yup, he’s the Crows best chance at winning.

I said to my son at the time where Brisbane where 3 points up with 4 mins left to play with possession of the ball, if Brisbane are any good, they would start chipping the ball around for 4 mins. Instead, they kick it long to the forward 50 and hope, perhaps in this situation maybe the safest play for the footy to be, BUT, you give up the possession ball offering Geelong an opportunity to win it back. Which they gave to them.

Its not the free they didn't give that lost them the game. They know that, and Geelong know they got lucky.

By now we should know better than to call them cheats, how the UMPS make a decisions and how each ump interpretation the contest does leave me baffled, but it didn't surprise me to start calling ump cheats....
The pathetic effort by Brisbane on Hawkins at the ruck contest which culminated in the goal that put Geelong back in front shouldn't be lost in the rage over the umpiring either.

The no crowds season in the NBA has given an insight into how much influence the home crowds have not on the actual performance of players but on the refereeing performance. It’s the single largest variable change.

From what we’ve seen here in AFL I expect that this is consistent across codes/cultures, hence last nights debacle...
Apart from Port home games

Or that last kick forward from the other Ah Chee - perhaps just this once, with seconds left, it wasn't the time to hug the boundary line.

Remember when the umpires openly admitted to not paying legitimate frees to Gray because of apparent staging?
But Selwood 800 free kicks and counting.....

Racist campaigners excused their booing of Goodes as ‘he stages for frees’ - Selwood is the biggest stager in the competition and barely gets a whimper from opposition crowds. Must be the colour of his skin maybe?🤔

Defies belief really
I trust all suspended players will now be able to play in lower leagues whilst suspended from AFL duties. The precedents have been set!

The AFL doesn't do precedents they do presents. To Victorian based clubs.

That was Guthrie disgusting as bad as you will see and literally you could tell they allowed it because it was Duckwood the filthy cheat that kicked the goal
Even after Blicavs threw the ball he still grabs the bears players arm to get him to fall in his back. I ****en hate that club.

I remember that. The umpires openly admitting that they are very subjective to how they apply the rules of the game based on the players involved is not as gobsmacking as the fact that no one in the AFL called them out on it.

I posted at the time that a player exaggerating illegal contact does not negate the fact that the illegal contact was there. Rule number one for umpires is to pay every free kick that is there but that apparently doesn't fit the AFL's agenda.

It's just infuriating.

Meanwhile Selwood with Bradmanesque frees for numbers.

I was happy with the decision they made about the Freo player Treacy, who got a 2 game suspension from a WAFL game - they said he only has to miss 2 weeks of AFL football and not wait until he's missed 2 games of WAFL football, because their season starts two weeks later than the AFL and he would've effectively been unavailable for the AFL side for four weeks. But this concession to allow Dangerfield to play in the VFL straight away is just more official AFL corruption - he shouldn't be allowed to play anywhere for the next three weeks!

EDIT: Apparently Treacy is still being allowed to play in WAFL practice matches, so that's pretty f*cked up too.
