BT failing to understand the difference between contested and intercept marking was a real highlight.
Although in hindsight, the premier AFL commentator failing to grasp the basics (let alone the complexities) of the game by asking "what is an intercept mark?" on a live broadcast is a real testament to the quality of AFL media.

I didn't think it was possible, but somehow AFL commentatary has hit a new low.

It's not good technique when you hit a bloke who is first to the ball in the head with your hip. He's taking advantage of the player playing to the intent of the rules as they are now applied. Selwood knew what he was doing.

Earlier in the game he 'fell' into an opponent's legs and again escaped scrutiny.

Selwood is a grub.
Ball was in dispute. In real time Mansell picks the ball in what, maybe half second before Selwood gets there. What do you suppose Selwood does? Does he not go for the ball? Does he also go in head first and risk injury? He can't tackle or he gets pinged for high contact.

In the circumstances and under the current laws of the game him contesting the ball is his only reasonable alternative, and under MRO guidelines he can't be sanctioned.

Selwood is a grub. But that doesn't change how he should be treated by MRO guidelines. Otherwise you get injustices like what happened to Lindsay Thomas or Toby Greene where they play under a different set of rules than others.

If it was Jonas, Boak etc. would you be advocating for them to get a suspension?

Anyone give lolnorf a chance today? The game should be declared a lock-in regardless, so that the fans from either team will have to stay until the bitter end
Absolutely. Go Norf.

Pies player base seems absolutely disgruntled with everything going on. It shows. Their work ethic is shit. Even the rapist couldn't get himself up last week.

I fear the next game against Geelong could be a no-show from us, and a kids-against-men belting.
If it was being played at the Cattery I would tend to agree but it’s a home game so I reckon we’ll be in with a bit of a chance.
Why can’t we get the Lions at AO?

I'll say again. Selwood hit him in the head with his hip. He had other alternatives, same as a player going the bump.

Selwood has been playing at the highest level for around 15 years, half a second is slow motion to him.

I would never advocate a Port player getting suspended, that's a silly comment. But I would expect scrutiny if not a report.

What alternatives? I outlined my opinion of his alternatives in my post, none of them are reasonable.

He could have gone lower, he could have waited the split second to tackle.

Selwood didn't even play the ball in the end, just hung his hands around the area and swung his hip into a player's head. He knew what he was doing.

Anyway neither of us is going to change the other's mind so Go Power!

It's great that Olsen has also noted the Victorian bias in the AFL, but let's not pretend that the Crows wouldn't knife us if it curried some favour with the AFL. They do not have the guts to stand up to the AFL like we've started to, and they never will.

They don’t need too

Yeah, I reckon they're a huge chance. Sometimes footy just goes to script and Collingwood losing would give the media scriptwriters plenty to talk about this week.

Stephenson to kick the winning goal.

North winning, us destroying the Crows and the PBs everywhere on TV making Eddie's purple face spontaneously combust.......

what an alltime shithouse call from BT

that was an amazing mark and BT murdered it
Bolton with mark of the year and BT, flat as a tack commentary.
one of the all time great marks absolutely ruined by the bristle

Listening to the ABC radio footy talk program this morning, they mentioned this BT call and also said that a MoTY contender taken by Toby Greene might have the commentary 're-done' for Brownlow night due to the underwhelming job done on the day - by guess who.

Probably have to use radio calls instead. Channel 7 always had a very vanilla approach to commentary but they use to get the spectacular parts right. BT is a competent commentator but he is not up to it for primetime blockbuster matches. I think James Brayshaw needs to take over the reigns a bit more and leave BT for special comments.

Hudson has a pretty good record for commentary in big moments.
