..... Based on ladder positions at the end of 17 rounds, three group pools are created: 1-6, 7-12, 13-18. You will play the 5 other teams in your pool in the final 5 rounds - creating a 22 round season. ......
So the schedule for round 18 is set on the Monday after round 17? Yeah, I can see that working real well

Who knew Russell Ebert had this award in his cabinet?

According to their website the Coaches Association had their awards night last night.

Congratulations Robbie I guess...

Ok the website is a bit confusing. Our Sendough says it's on the 23rd of September and we should all go.

Matthew Egan is suing Geelong over his foot surgery in 2007.

Horrific tale that.

Talk about scaling the pinnacle of your hopes and dreams one minute, at the bottom of a well the next.

So who is the Crows player who has a pic doing the rounds with a 'dodgy' friend.
Betts would be my guess.
Yup, thats what it is.

Ford started a thread when he won it. It was a rare highlight in 2011. The award was right out of the blue.

Idea for reducing tanking:

Rank the draft order based on when each team mathematically fell out of finals contention. So the first team to mathematically be unable to make finals gets pick 1, and so on.

If multiple teams fall out in the same week, base it on the ladder order of those teams on the week they fell out.

That way, teams have incentive to continue to fight until their draft order is set, then it doesn't matter whether they win or lose.

I'm sure Richmond would love that idea.

What does a mid-season draft actually achieve?

Surely giving clubs an extra two rookie list spots, like in the expansion draft years, would be a much cleaner solution. You'd see the same players drafted only they'd have an extra 6 months of AFL standard training. Picking up an extra ruckman in round 12 might have been handy for us but blind Freddy could have called that in December. If a club wants to risk having only 3 injury prone ruckman on a list of 44 or 46 that's their prerogative, and it's not the AFLs to stop them making bad list management decisions.

Reeks of AFL Players Association shenanigans imo.
