Sort of. But pissing away hundreds of thousands of taxpayer money on bringing over a bunch of geriatrics to play a concert is also typically narrow minded and stereotypically South Australian. It's pie-floaters v Fruchocs in a battle of the SA stereotypes!

Bunch of geriatrics? Still one of the biggest drawing acts of all time. We aren't talking some band that was big back in the day but has faded in to obscurity, but a huge international draw card. If you could see the point of our club spending money from the coffers we put in to, flying over the border to announce a sponsor spending money on transport and accommodation when we could have saved some dosh in and done it in our backyard, but sook about this, I don't get it and attribute your cynicism to nothing more than personal distaste.

Would you prefer mumford and sons, or more of a birds of tokyo hard rocker?

Perhaps the battle is apathy and sarcasm for the generation y know it alls!

WTF does our sponsor have to do with anything?

I like the Stones' older stuff, Paint It Black is one of my favourite songs. I just don't have any interest in seeing 70 year olds rockin' out.

The SA Government has taken a forward step in putting the new Adelaide Oval on the map all over the world, I don't understand the knocking. You're complaining that it cost tax payer money to do so? When Port Adelaide flew to the MCG to put ourselves out there nationally and introduce a new international sponsor it was smiles and high 5's all round, even though we are still no financial powerhouse ourselves.

They are both acts of grandeur, and I applaud both of them. What I don't applaud in the camry crows what about me act, trying to maintain relevance as seem as if they have some kind of say in this

I wasn't really paying attention but I think I just heard a sound bite of SAndo saying Matt Crouch is a beautiful kick.

Older stuff is all there is of the Stones. They are one of the great iconic bands but they have basically become a cover band of themselves. When did they last release anything new?

Ummm Jagger looks like Jaeger to keep this football related. ;)

The Strolling Bones are a great band, but if you want classic bring out McCartney, Starr & some sons of. ... :thumbsu:

That may be, but they can still perform those songs physically at an incredible level and are an act to behold

Gotta ask do recruiters take into account the maturity size of players

for example tom boyd is a beast of a man at such a young age so you would expect him to dominate against smaller immature bodies

Who cares, the relecance to this thread is? Time for your obsession with Sando and the Crows to be put aside for a while dont you think?

How many games have you seen Matt Crouch play?

There's like a dozen bios on him all noting his average kicking/decision making skills.

Question for you: Is it more obsessive for us to occasionally comment on our cross town rivals or for you to be constantly monitoring this thread on our board to check up on that?

A thought I've just had after yesterday's draft.

Seems to be definite and contrasting styles developing in both Port and the Crow's lists.

We are putting a big emphasis on speed and hard running which is key to our gameplan whereas it seems the crows have added two more inside grunt types to what would already be considered their strength having Danger, Sloane, Thompson, Crouch etc. I guess they're trying to develop a tough, combative style (Sydney-like being the aim??) and seem to have ignored real pace almost altogether.

Interested to hear how people think this will influence the way showdowns are played and how the two styles will play off against each other.

The side note would be earlier comments by Richardson on Adelaide Oval re predictions it will lend itself to more contested, stoppage heavy play.

Might depend on their playing style? Haven't seen any of Boyd's games, but I guess if you had a KPF who instead of leading correctly and into dangerous spots.. just stood there and wrestled their undersized opponents that would be taken into account.

I think something like that was mentioned about Ollie... haha sucks to be those recruiters.

Boyd at 200cms is a beast against anyone in the AFL, whereas it is the opposite for Hourigan at 192cm and the reason why he wasn't drafted - in support of your comment.

Why the **** do we care about their list?

Seriously. They are a pathetic squad coached by a ******* mail-order bride loving figjam who won't have any form of success in the foreseeable future. Compare our list to that of Sydney, Hawthorn or Geelong as that's who we should look to be like.

How's that?

Maybe the money would be better spent brining a drug cheating cyclist over for a bike race. ;)

Well we play them twice a year, every year and I for one quite enjoy beating them so am interested.

Personally I think their recruiting strategy seems a bit aimless but wanted others opinions as we'll have such contrasting styles over the next few years and wanted to get thoughts on how those games will go.

I especially recall a comment or two by posters here regarding Port's sides of the late 80's and 90's which were slower but tougher than the pacier Glenelgs and North/Norwoods who we consistently beat in finals.

The crows have plenty of pace. Dangerfield, Crouch & Sloane are all quick in the centre. Brown, Petrenko, Betts, Henderson, Douglas & Shaw as well.

Umm, it's called 'General AFL Talk'? I'm all for complaining about the amount of times your shit club is mentioned on this board, but if it has to be, this thread is where it belongs.

So what happens when Butcher fails again next year?
Do we trade him and go for someone like Patton with a 1st rounder or Lewis Johnston with a 3rd rounder or draft another kid in apparently a tall draft?
or keep him and hope in 2015 he pulls his finger out in his 6th season

Now there's positivity.
