Nic Nat injury challenges West Coast's genuine flag prospects, but the fact they'll have to play interstate come finals means they're no hope. Hawks will still win the flag but they really look to lack a bit of height in their side at the moment.

Jeremy McGovern's marking is phenomenal, if Hombsch could get anywhere near as good as that in the air.

Has Burgoyne been putrid tonight or just the bits n' pieces I've seen?
Putrid might be a stretch but it was notable how many finely judged handpasses, passing kicks etc he just missed. And also one snap shot on goal missed. All the little things that earnt him the nickname 'Silk' at Hawthorn* went awry.

* I'm not aware he was ever called 'Silk' at Port.

Hawthorn don't rely on one or two players.
They'll be right.

Agree. Sydney or the Hawks will win the flag, the Crows don't have a great midfield which will get shown up in the finals cauldron.

the Boomers 3-point % against Serbia is not dissimilar to our disposal efficiency

Rating Adelaide as a realistic premiership contender ≠ Loving Adelaide, or loving Port Adelaide any less. It is called being objective, a concept which some posters on both sides of the fence seem unable to grasp.

In terms of ability, development, form, and ladder position, they are currently where we can only dream of being ourselves. Denying that, or pettily trying to write them off at every opportunity, is nothing short of embarrassing and reeks of insecurity. There is absolutely no difference between rating Adelaide, and rating the likes of Geelong, Hawthorn, or Sydney. Every one of them is our opposition.

Having said that, I do understand why our supporter base has a strong dislike for Adelaide. However, if you are someone who equates objectiveness toward Adelaide with disloyalty to Port Adelaide, there is a good chance that you are unhealthily obsessed with them. Work on that, please.

(Also, if you could call them something more creative than 'Cows', and stop flooding the 'Media Shakes Head' thread with every mention of an Adelaide player on FiveAA, that would be fantastic. It is incredibly cringe.)

I just can't wait for the umpires to ream them when they play the Hawks. Melt city.

I once heard a Crows supporter ask why the umpire wasn't calling a free for the opposition full forward being outside of the forward 50 arc, they are the gift that keeps on giving.

Hopefully we put up a better effort tonight than the Boomers

Crows and the Hawks have shown this year that no matter what hand you a dealt you can still come out on top.
Who would have thought a couple of years ago that Hawthorn would be favourites for a GF without Buddy and Roughy? Their game plan is rock solid - they are rarely out of the contest.
Who would have thought the crows would become such a powerhouse after the shemozzle of Tippettgate where they were left with basically no high draft picks for two years + the loss of their best player leaving (Danger)?
Club culture?

God, if that was a free kick against Ken's coaching record would be 0-86 right now.

Walsh death and losing Danger have united Crows emotionally, just as losing JMac did to our players in 13 and 14. Negligible injuries have assisted Crows this year who are a good team, they have recruited well.

We probably have the thickest rank'n'file supporters in the league.

'Cows' is far more complimentary than some of the disgusting abuse that our club has copped from some of their morons. Whilst there are some posters on this board who appear obsessed with them, I suggest it is probably in the minority and no worse than other supporter base who enjoy intensive rivalry with other club.

There were some very strong signs last night that the squawk's dominant era is just about over.

They have two very average ruckmen, one of whom may be stuffed for the season, and a number of their prime movers, eg Burgoyne, Mitchell, Lewis and Birchall, are beginning to appear very close to being cooked, and without Roughy, they are definitely undersized up forward.

Some of their replacement players looked very average last night, and one of them, ( Hartung ) even did a fair impression of Nathan Lonie on a couple of occasions, ie he got out of the way.

They were kissed on the dick in numerous close wins this season, and I can't see them as a real flag chance.

Their much vaunted ability to continue to trade up, or to not put to fine a point on it give away sfa to improve their list, will be really tested in the next year or two as well, and won't that be a shame. ;)

GC17 will probably give them Jaeger O'Meara for their fourth rounder.

Where did I say it isn't fair? But I won't have to like it, especially by their bandwagoners and other supporters who, let's be honest, have never had to support a club through really hard times.
You spend an awful lot of time worrying about their luck and people blowing smoke up their rear. Don't stress.
