Games like that make me realise how far away we are away. That was tough intense footy. I think another preseason with Voss will see the blues a serious threat next year.

I don't see:
1. Melbourne being in the prelims this year
2. Any team beating Geelong

Next week will decide Melbourne’s fate.

Depending on results, if they lose at the Gabba they’ll either have to go back there, or face Geelong at the G (which they’d prefer).

Remember when Melbourne were blitzing the comp and talk of going undefeated about a third in?

I knew those 'dont bother going higher than 3rd gear' wins weren't going be good for them in the long run.

LOL.

The fierce and competitive Carlton-Melbourne game was made even better by the commentary. That rarely happens on Channel 7.

Freo v Eagles had Dermott Brereton. No one neutral was ever going to watch that.

Excuses… Excuses…

I reckon Melbourne cant win the flag without Tom McDonald. He's not a great CHF, doesnt need to be, but he provides a structure that makes life easier for Brown, Fritsch and Jackson. Weideman isnt the answer.

Tonight's 23 had 21 of their GF 23. Hunt in for Bowey and Melksham in for McDonald. Melksham isn't cover for McDonald.

Melbourne were 9-0 last year and 10-0 this year. Last year they had a great run with injuries. McDonald played 23 games last year, just 9 this year.

10 players played all 25 games, 4 missed 1 game and 2 missed 2 games.

Of those 16, after 21 games this year Lever has missed 5, Salem 10, McDonald 12 games, Rivers 6, May 2, Gawn 2, Jackson 2 and 4 players a single game and only 5 have played all 21 games, who were part of the 16 players who in total only missed 8 games last year.

Others Petty last year missed 6 games and this year 6, and Hibberd 8 last year and 12 this year..

I still reckon the Dees are going back to back.

Something about them reminds me of the Hawks. They may not be able to consistently perform week in week out like a well drilled Geelong, but they always have the potential to just blast opponents off the park with a really powerful 10 minute period. That sort of burst fire potential is often enough to win finals.

The fact that they trained for winning close games and had a win the game play ready says it all about their coaching vs ours. Especially in big games and big moments.

Got a feeling that Geelong will lose one more game this year.Maby first week of the finals or GF

Kane teeing off on the Saints not allowing Lloydy to work with Max King on his goal kicking.. meanwhile Jay Schulz not allowed to work with Port forwards & never a word on it from our five minute fireman.

edgie thoughts
