Appealing for common decency lol. Where was this mindset when he was patronisingly grandstanding about Port supporters needing to know their place and appreciate another failed year under Daddy?

Rather than 'wildcard', I think we just need to look at how we can extend the finals by a week. Finals are the best part of footy, and to have it all over in four weeks is too quick. Figure out a way to properly work the 'double chance' and reward teams who earn it. Find the right balance of rewarding the team that is best on the day with the team that has been best throughout the season.

VIC / Dan Andrews have just cancelled the 2026 Comm Games !

Sporting capital of the universe !

Pete Mali come on down
No thanks. Commonwealth Games lol.

Shouldnt even be a thing.

I wonder if this is the first of more cancellations of these type of events. It is becoming clearer in the modern world these one off games events are increasingly difficult to stage with dwindling economic benefit.

Gone are the days that Comm Games are seen as a relevant sporting event. It's a weird group of countries that share a common coloniser. Serious competitors wouldn't have it as a priority on their schedule.

It's not 1982 anymore.

Why couldn't they slash costs by hosting it at existing venues in Melbourne & forgetting the whole regional angle? who cares, but a stupid idea anyway? I mean track 'n field in Ballarat lmao

Do we even have a pool up to standard? lol

SA Aquatic Centre is competition standard pool but really lacking in spectator facilities. It's location is absolutely ****ing bullshit. Some serious greasing of palms went down when choosing that spot for the facility.

I agree with that, but also in a general sense, other varieties of world cups, championships, etc. Especially for a place like Melbourne that should have plenty of existing facilities and infrastructure.

Surely be dozens of torn hammies down there doing sprints in the balmy 8 degree days.

Condense it down to a Sports Day & have it at Unley Oval... everyone's a winner

Day 5 at Sports Day 2023: Australia wins Bronze in the Egg & Spoon race but disqualified in the Sack race for using a non-regulation hemp fibre sack.
