His wheelchair cannot make it around Mt. Barker.
Plus games overlap.

Whose wheelchair? John Cahill runs a gym at 83 and Blighty is still getting around.

And fairly sure that new invention TV would allow a selector to watch all the games. You don't have to be there in person.

Well 3/4 is most likely expected surely. Freeo’s only hope is to keep it off us for 4 quarters and deny us possession.
St Kilda here never play well, Crows come on.
Which is kinda the point. Beating Collingwood if we're serious is a non-negotiable, but it can't come at the expense losing the others. If the club wants us to think we're serious, the Collingwood game is absolutely the litmus test that we should pass, but undoubtedly I'm convinced we will again fail. Even that in isolation isn't enough though. Get to 7-1 and we can start talking about having some serious credentials. Until then we remain frauds.

Wouldn't want you to lose ya money, Prospect & Glenelg are already moving on it & sorry to say are in better locations for interstate visitors than Alberton.
The AFL will give Alberton a gather round match. Mark my words.
Not sure when you last visited Prospect Oval it’s an absolute shithole.
Glenelg has a good location but again there is only one grandstand and the size of the ground is questionable.

So far they've played Norf, West Coast, had a bye and are now playing GC. They beat Norf by less than what Carlton and Brisbane beat them by.

Much bigger sample size needed.
They play Carlton in Melbourne in round 6. Given what transpired at Adelaide Oval last night, the Giants will need to be at their best to win that one!!!

Prospect have made improvements with more to come they are looking at 2026 I walk past it regularly.

The size of Glenelg is irrelevant they play at Norwood Oval for pete's sake.

It's all about location, we love Alberton no one else does.

Montagna has totally missed the point here.

This non goal was called a behind by the goal umpire but over-ruled by the field umpire who sent it to review where a goal was then called.

Subsequent footage (not shown at the time and apparently not viewed by the reviewer) shows that the kick clearly deflected off the upper arm Freo player and the goal umpire made the correct call of a behind. The incorrect review result more than likely changed the outcome of the game.

We don't need yet another friggin review system. We just need the review system we already have to be given the proper technical resourcing to work properly. How many feckin times does this need to be said FFS? How about the AFL focus on fixing this basic failure in our game before admitting more teams into the competition or milking the life out of what has been an excellent gather round.

In 3 weeks time the opening round teams byes will wash thru, rain will have started and 6 maybe 7 teams will be locked in as finalists.

For 7 teams it will be season over in terms of finals. Sure they can get games into young players and develop them, and they will talk about hope and still plenty of games left for them to win to get to September action, but history says otherwise.

Sydney's 0-6 2017 start is the exception that proves the rule.

After round 13 last year GWS and Carlton were 14th and 15th respectively. Both stormed home to play finals and get knocked out in prelims.

Who knows how it plays out this year but last year it felt like there was a huge mid table squeeze and that there really wasn't a huge difference between maybe 5th and 15th.

The gulf early days is pretty clear. Gonna be a slow season with alot of apparent dead rubber at this rate.

There is bascially 2 or 3 stand out teams and 2 or 3 rubbish teams each year for the last 6 or 7 years since the expansion teams went from being u/19 teams to at least u/24 teams, and there isnt nuch difference for the in between teams, depending on how many key injuries those in between teams had.

Last year was a bit different. First yeat coach with a super talented list but early season injuries took time to gel and the Carlton long slump didnt make much sense to me given the talent they have.

Zero chance of Alberton getting a guernsey...too far from city,no surrounding cafe/retail strip, ground already destroyed to develop an AFL training facility etc etc. No vibe in a nutshell.

the ground itself is great, with nice facilities and brand new food places etc. But the ground itself isnt the problem. Its the surrounds. Nothing to do or see there.

Yes, but in fairness I went to the Mt Barker game today which was literally just a football ground plonked in the middle of a giant paddock, so who knows how they decide these things.

I can't remember, how far is the Port from Alberton?

The Port isn't a bad district at all, Pirate Life brewery and surrounds are lively, you've got beaches at Semaphore, etc.

Again not being in radelaide my geography could be off, but I don't think Alberton is out in the sticks.

About a 5 minute drive. The suburb of Alberton itself is a bit of a hole though.

Completely fits the criteria for country game then lol

If Alberton Oval was in the heart of the Port it would be a different discussion, I'd run a Bad Boy Bubby filming location tour for the victorians.

Five ****ing minutes is nothing, it takes longer to drive from north to west Yabba.

Also I stayed at a blokes place once a short walk from the oval and it seemed pretty nice? Does it get shittier further away?

Tom Morris bringing up the Melbourne Grand Final when Leigh Matthews complained about extra home games for Port and Adelaide...

Maybe he isn't so bad.

Leigh Matthews take along with many others who think the same is infuriating. Bartel and morris actually made sense to which Matthew’s had no answer to. It’s just a genuinely shit take, which I can’t believe is growing legs.

Why don't we just make Port and Crows play an away game at the oval then? Like Collingwood playing away to Essendon? We'll put on the white shorts and even it up?

You'd half listen to it if it was coming from a Perth-based commentator. From a Melbourne-based commentator, it's genuinely laughable.
