There was a South wingman from the mid 70's early 80's who used to run even wider than Symonds, I have a vague recollection of someone (it may have been REH) mentioning his name on here a few years back.

Ron Hately?

Oh and who at Adelaide thought a forward line with Walker, Fogarty, Thilthorpe and Himmelberg against Hawthorn's fast rebound game was a good idea?

The Richmond sock situation was surprisingly annoying today.

Could’ve been an optical illusion due to various states of fold/pulled up/pushed down, but it looked like there were multiple styles being worn — with a lot looking straight-up black.

Given the historical and ongoing hullabaloo surrounding our dress when playing Collingwood, what’s the bet nobody bats an eyelid that the away side essentially wore ‘home socks’.
Reminds me of Sturt back when they were on the bones of their arse in the early 90's and sending teams onto the ground with non matching jumpers, ie they had at least a couple of different shades of blue, and some jumpers had shadow tone numbers while others had the standard block type.

It was such a hotch potch that their property steward could have been getting his club gear from K-mart.

It was fun to watch regardless. Some serious heat should be coming on Nicks that's for sure.

But his contract should be honoured ;)

It was terrible to see Sturt in such a state

Fair to say Bonner is still a better player than Duursma. But both not good enough for AFL.
What are you smoking? What ever it is get off it. Both are becoming better players by not being at Port, its very clear the development of our fringe players improves when they leave. Impey, Amon, Bonner & Durs just to name a few. None of our kids are improving under our development coaches, Sinn, Jones, Jackson, K Marschall, Lord, Williams and Skully all gone backwards. Jobs for the boys at Port!

Neither of bonner or duursma have shown any more this year than when they were at port. Bonner is getting more opportunity in an average side. Amon was an all Australian squad tier player and 3rd in our Brownlow count for consecutive years before he left. Impey left when he was still young and would be good in our team still.

I think this sort of comment is looking for things to be enraged about.

Jack the Insider: I remember when being young meant you could explain the difference between Beta and VHS to your parents. Now to be young means you don’t know what VHS or Beta is.

I’m old enough to remember when the Crows were a competent football club. This season they have underperformed to a level that is kind of amazing. Luckily, Crows fans are a patient lot. Last year they only missed the finals because of AFL incompetence. This year, they haven’t needed any help at all. They can take full credit.

I have a feeling that Hawthorn are not far off another Premiership. They have the habit of going out and getting the players they need and not selling the farm when they do it. I reckon Hinkley, Davies &Co have tried to do similar but it has not worked.

Even this year Hawthorn are a real threat as they play Carlton, GWS, Richmond and North Melbourne. Win three of those and they will have 14 wins and probably a place in the eight. Win all four and they will have 15 wins and possibly a top four finish.

It's important to recognize the progress players make, even if it's at different clubs. Bonner and Duursma have both elevated their game since moving on from Port Adelaide. The stats prove this, so your assessment isn't accurate. Bonner is thriving with more opportunities, and Duursma has shown significant growth in his new environment.

As for Karl Amon, his achievements at Port Adelaide, including being part of the All-Australian squad, were solid. However, the data shows he's playing even better footy at Hawthorn, likely due to factors like coaching, role, and enjoyment.

Let's aim for a more balanced and informed discussion, as it's clear you have a limited understanding of what you're talking about.

Michalanney only got a fine for slamming a guys head into the ground and choking a player. What the hell are we doing here if that type of crap is allowed?

Graded as body contact. I know Watson is small but didn’t realise he was so small that his neck and face is considered his general body now.

We've missed Karl. He hasn't put a season together at Hawthorn better than what he played with us in 2021, or 2022 for that matter. Xavier might be averaging numbers this year with Essendon like he did in his first season with us, and Bonner's numbers might have slightly improved but at no point in any of our games this year for one second have I thought, shit we miss Bonner and Duursma.
