A reminder that Simpson is contracted until the end of 2025 in a deal worth in the vicinity of $800,000 per season. If West Coast cut ties early, it could cost the club up to $6 million due to the luxury tax they would need to pay on top of any payout.

But if any club can afford the payout and the tax it's West Coast. And surely they will make the move if this rout continues.
Not disputing your $6m cost to club but can you show how you came to that figure. Thanks.

Luxury tax😂, 6 mill would make him set for life.
Wonder what the Lixury tax is in Adelaide?
No way could we afford that much to get rid of Ken, be cheaper hiring a hit.

The Dees are 12 th with 99%.
Need to pick up 5 % to replace Collingwood in the top 8.
Such a tight ladder in 24.Our last two wins are priceless

That huge luxury tax figure was if they paid him out at the end of last year, not this year. The payout figure for 2024+25 was estimated in the media to be between $2mil and $2.5mil.

The luxury tax component on a $2mil payout that blew the soft cap by only $2mil was;
75% first $100k over =$75k
100% next $150k over =$150k
150% next $250k over = $375k
200% next $1.5mil over = $3mil
Total tax = $3.5mil luxury tax to go with a $2mil pay out to Simpson.

If it was a $2.5mil salary pay out, the luxury tax would have been $4.5mil for a total cost of $7m.

Then there is the escalating penalty if you go over the cap amount for a 2nd and consecutive 3rd year. The rates for the above threshold become even more punitive and were;

75%/150%/225%/300% in the 2nd year of overspend
75%/200%/300%/400% in the 3rd year of overspend

The AFL announced in February the luxury tax would be cut, but didn't make the rates public, and also allowed for 20% of the head coaches salary to be moved outside the expenditure cap limit. The Clarko and Dimma affect rather than the sack Simpson affect. That's why it will be easier for WCE to sack Simmo in September this year compared to last year. I started a thread in February about it here;

Interesting to see how the Crows go up North.
Melbourne where fantastic up their last week.But couldn't hold on in the end.
Looks like Brisbanes plan is to blow the Camrys away early.Mids and back flankers running fwd aggressively.
See if the Crows can hurt them the other way going back.

Wow Rankine hit is a long way off the ball
Crows have had the run of the whistle,so far
Like the games at AO

Get the feeling Murphy needs something really big.In these last 7 matches of 2024.Looks like a delist to me
