If they can name medals after the ghosts of the VFL days of yore there's no reason why WAFL & SANFL legends can't have AFL awards named after them.

Imagine thinking of the AFL as an 'Australian' brand as opposed to a Victorian brand.

Converse to the Maynard medal they can have the Dan Houston medal for the player who's had their suspension massaged out to ensure they can't play in the finals (only players from non-vic teams are eligible though)
