Apparently Connor Idun was able to successfully negotiate his part in the Django skit down to a fine (still ridiculous), by explaining what actually occurred from his perspective.

It’s almost as if context matters, or something.

Whatever people think of AFLW I gotta say I love seeing all the old upgraded suburban grounds on the tele, the big uniform soulless bowls in the mens game are tiresome.
If AO ever does need more capacity, anyone suggesting getting rid of the trees etc. at the Northern end, so it can join the ranks of soulless stadiums worldwide should be shot.

The new Perth Optus stadium and MCG are two of the worst, soulless stadiums going around.

Of course victorians would call me insane but the only thing it has going for is its size.

It otherwise has no character and Optus is even worse it’s just a massive donut looking thing

It’s just the way it is, bigger grounds more people more money.
The sport is almost secondary now as it’s all about business.

'Character' in a stadium is good for when there is nothing happening at the stadium.
But honestly, who is at a game of footy or cricket for the 'character' of the stadium?

Which makes it important in cricket lol

If someone gave you the choice of going to test matches at Lords, Adelaide Oval & Newlands or the MCG, Optus & The Gabba I'd take the first three every time. The MCG is a bloody awful place unless there's at least 60k there.

Adelaide oval has always been one of the best grounds in the world for watching Cricket.
It’s always had the feeling that your part of the game as your so close to the action.
Only way you get any sort of connection at a place like the MCG is if there’s a massive crowd.

Big reason why i like gather round

This is not a comment on whether the behaviour of the GWS players was right or wrong or in between but snitches like this do what they do purely for their own ego and sense of self importance, the motivation is the opposite of pure.
Could we imagine what is said behind closed doors at a Zionist meeting? Or Palestinian meeting or Ukrainian!!!

It’s obsurd

I often wonder if people offended by these sort of things have ever been exposed to stand-up comedy cripes even 9/11 has been a punchline for umpteen years.
Its not about caring who is offended.

Its about protecting the brand from any criticism.

The AFL will have a ‘thin edge of the wedge’ attitude to partying by their peasants as they won’t want the reputation of the NRL as it’s a more ‘upper middle class’ sport.

Whilst the execs spend more time in the toilets than the party.

They are politicians basically.

Of all the AFL venues used in 2024, Mt Barker and Norwood had the highest % of capacity of all the grounds - 100% up in the hills and high 90s for The Parade. Hobart had the lowest at 20-odd% of f-all (lolN0rf), Marvel was less than 50%

Interesting development in the argument for protective headwear and concussion. Perhaps the long established argument that they make no difference is less clear. "NFL executive vice president Jeff Miller said that Guardian Caps have contributed to a nearly 50% reduction in concussions for the position groups that wore them during those time periods."

I very much doubt it will make a difference. Rules changes and protecting the head especially in training camp would have a great effect. It's like people who wear a helmet skiing.. it's literally pointless but now it's the majority. You hit your head on the tree with or with the helmet, if it is a deadly incident, it's going to kill you either way unless we make all the helmets roughly 20cm thick all the way around like a helmet prop out a bad 80s sci fi movie.

Death isn't the only outcome/reason for wearing a helmet.

Ok but same point, you're going to get a concussion with or without it.
Yes, but again, there are a lot of other injuries it prevents. Particularly breaks and cuts.

My favourite ground to watch highlights from is played by the Under 18s in Melbourne.

I don't know the name of it but it has the ocean in the background. I just love it.
