Eddie McGuire's son, newly employed on a big $$ contract at AFL partner broadcaster Channel 7, breaking the news that out-of-contract Sam De Koning is getting a new $$$ salary deal to keep him at Geelong is the AFL in 2025 in a nutshell.

Oh. All this time I'd thought it was the Carlton one that the Satins were wooing.

"There's not enough money in the world to make St Kilda an attractive option" - Sam de Koning, probably.

Whoever is in there is going to need some serious physiotherapy by the end of the game.

Rum'un, which translates to Tasmanian slang for “an odd or eccentric person; a scallywag, or someone cheeky” in the Macquarie Dictionary, made his debut as the Tasmania Devils' latest recruit at an event on Tuesday evening.

This sounds just like Brent Croswell to me. Perfect name for a Tassie mascot.

To the AFL - I bloody hope you put Creswell in the Hall of Fame either before Tassie join or the year they join.

Too much footy news. I've been out of the footy ecosystem for 2 years living overseas and now I'm back I am bombarded tenfold with internet takes replying to articles replying to takes on Some Show On Fox replying to a made up issue. This shit is too small fry to accommodate this broadcasting and coverage culture. Kane Cornes is not Stephen A. Smith. David King is not Gary Neville. There is not enough football. The country is not big enough.

Pool noodles & posing for the cameras

I do remember Daniel Healy assaulting Daniel Stewart for 3 hours with the pool noodles, I actually thought it not a terrible idea, learning to take contact and vision impaired in marking contests. Upon reflection Daniel Stewart was as soft as a pool noodle and after one game this season I would argue our performance was the also of a pool noodle.

Train as you play…

Nothing to see here, Geelong will be able to use up all the large amount of cap space freed up by the release of Tanner Bruhn to the games first finger injury without a foreseeable return date, despite Tanner taking under to play at Geelong for lifestyle reasons (which may or may not have sometihng to do with his finger injury).

Whilst it's abundantly clear that there have been numerous doors opened for Xander McGuire due to daddy, he is actually quite good at what he does. It's a much better hire than the ex-player guffaw, gee shucks types that seem to fill the screens at every turn.

Is there still a Plugger-like figure left in the game to threaten physical violence, if young Xandy gets a little too smartarsed?

Maybe, but is he better than the hard working super intelligent and knowledgeable journalist who will never get a chance because of the nepotism?

That’s the real issue.

What's to say he isn't hard working, intelligent and knowledgeable? He can't have a career in a particular field just because of who his father is?

Exactly!

He is son of Peter Maynard who played a decade for Glenelg. Peter played a couple years for Melbourne before moving to SA. Brayden was born in Adelaide but grew up in Melbourne.

He is also the grandson of Graham Campbell, who played and coached Fitzroy, took West Perth from bottom to top, then coached Glenelg when Maynard was playing for him.

Commentary celebrating three instances in a row of Hawthorn players getting away with blocking a defender out of the marking contest.

Jarman Impey on the bench with an injury concern... From a tackle he laid on a player who didn't have the ball.
