Not sure, he is a a friend of a friend, so I have met him a few times. He is a big bloke and he is only 19 I think.

Played over in Canberra I think and has moved to South Adelaide this year, started of slowly but has now cracked the league side, playing up forward and rucking.
In the Footy Budget he's listed at 193cm and 90kg. He's only 19 and has kicked 10 goals in 9 games. Could be worth a crack.

By the end of last year Hughes had also done nothing at SANFL level. He played less games by the end of last year than Pearce had and was also "languishing" in the reserves.

Why the " " around 'languishing'.

He was finding the ball but his disposal was shocking in the SANFL.

One of those players who plays better in the AFL I guess. Still would like to see him get a contested ball however :)

Like the looks of Nathan Twomey.

I know that Hawthorn are looking at him (I was looking over a recruiters shoulder at the Bays/Panthers game a few weeks ago ;))

lmao.

so very true.
How is what he said funny in any way? Yes we have some outstanding young talent but when has that been enough to make a great side? We have Meesen performing solidly as well as Pfeiffer, Gibson is improving week by week and then there’s Campbell and Hughes, who should be picked up at this years draft. However that’s only a handful of players, you need 21 talented, committed players to be successful, and that we don’t have. If you really want an in depth reason on where I see this side and some of the reasons why we’re struggling then go over to the Redlegs forum, but otherwise, such smart comments really have no meaning.

the point is that the results suggest that you don't have as much talent as you seem to think.

your assessments of the great talent at the parade is not being backed up by results.

You could say the same for Hawthorn, how much young talent do they have? A bloody crapload! Yet they are also struggling.

nope. different types of competitions that they're involved in.

if you have a bunch of players good enough for a higher level, perhaps you might be expected to do better at the lower standard.

Did you even bother to read my post? There is great young talent, but that’s not enough, they’re not ready to take this side to the finals. There are too many mediocre players in the side, and the skill level is generally quite appalling. Our decision making is dreadful and some of the decisions made by the coaching staff are very dubious, and there are those playing reserves who should be in the league side. All of the above are reasons why we're not getting the desired results, and even with the younger players I’ve mentioned we won’t be going anywhere unless there are major changes.

I see where you're coming from and I agree with you. Quite clearly you can have a heap of young talent in your side but not get the results due to a lack of depth. Makes sense.

Perhaps for Crow-Mo's sake, replace the work 'talent' with 'AFL potential'. Be aware though, Crow-Mo doesn't like to concede an argument. ;)

Wayne's World - Hughes would be a great get for the AFC. Pull your head out of the sand and realise this. Some posters on here are FAR too conservative.
Is that why I can't stop coughing :p

So your saying take a risk, shoot the breeze....nothing to lose, let's see how it all works out and we can try again if it doesn't ;) ....no seriously you could be right, he could be a good get ....obviously our recruiting team (with Norwood backgrounds) will no him intimately - good luck to him in the draft!

It was my comment that started it, I'm pretty sure. It was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek.

Funny thing is I'm a Norwood supporter. Ironic, hey?
Typical Norwood supporters always starting arguments......you wouldn't find that sort of thing down at Westies.;)
