First rule of Aliir...Once he takes the mark, grab him and hold on....give away a free...after we all get back into position.....just don't let him play on as he always does.
Aliir is Sydney's Harry O and that ain't no colour thing....he always plays on.
One step too many Herieter.

Alir Alir a double named player; nearly seventy to one hundred years ago a Hawthorn player was double named. Stewart Stewart.

I noticed this as well. He is exciting to watch, going to be a great player. I must admit i was getting frustrated when we just kept kicking it in his area, intercepted a few times and then just takes off

I hope the fact Greenwood was coming back from injury wasn't the reason we played him forward. It needs to be his position from now on as he has the strength and smarts to play the defensive forward role.

Our midfield is deep enough that he doesn't need to spend much time there. If he is going to be a significant contributor to this side it will be as a forward.

How did the umps miss the throws? Think we only got one.
Further is incorrect disposal not a rule anymore?
And... why is one in the back and the same thing not in the back?
Umps were appallingly one sided regarding prior opportunity with the Swans disposal appalling to match. The Swans have the most uneducated crown on the planet to go with it, Chardonnay swilling plebs the lot of them. Most of them still think Tony Lockett is playing most weeks.
Seems the umps just assume every Swans player is a clumsy ****.....Hannebury the absolute worst....whereas Pies players just never dispose properly even if they do??.

That would be a 50 metre penalty....

But agree he was super impressive in his ability to just find a way through spaces after marking

Still some confusion on the interpretation now; if you haven't had "prior" and attempt to dispose of it - play on.
Also, if you haven't had prior and drop it in the tackle, that's incorrect disposal - the smart players hang on to the ball.
The "prior" one is self-explanatory.
The two in the backs tonight are inexcusable, especially when it would've been the same umpire!

I disagree, at least until De Goey and Wells come back i think he needs to be spending a bit of time in there when Pendles or Treloar are resting.

Once De Goey and Wells are back though i agree, up forward.

Elliott and Wells possible inclusions next week, maybe life isn't so shite after all!
Though I was thinking of this and given both their (perceived) importance to the team. Both noted for silk and skill but one prone to injury and the other 18months since running onto the field in the heat of battle.

Do we treat them with kid gloves (VFL) or straight into the fire (AFL)? Also on a perhaps unforgiving Etihad surface and a fast paced Saints.

Dare say Wells in for Broomhead and Elliott a crack in the seconds if both ready to play?

Had a West Coast supporter message me about the umpires and Jones after tonight's win.

Was an appreciated irony after they carried the Eagles over the line against the Saints. Wouldn't expect a West Coast supporter to know a correct call anyway

What I liked about tonight is that when the pressure was on, not one player dropped their head, still played it hard.
There were many times when mistakes were made someone stood up.
I was so impressed with Adams whether at the bottom of a pack still managed to tap it on. Showed real hardness and leadership.
Broomy also had some classy touches, gee I hope he has a good run. No more injuries!
