"Brian Oblivion has requested a trade from St. Kilda and has nominated the Sydney Swans as his preferred destination. The Swans have offered the Saints experienced Poster, Bedford, as well as a 2005 edition and framed photograph of Premiership duo Sean Dempster & Adam Schneider. However, the Saints have only requested the photograph in return".

Actually I've loved this bye weekend mate. The most relaxed and stress free I have been all season.

I’ve kicked back without a care in the world, watched a couple of games at my leisure ….. just loving the bye.

I reckon there should be more of them in fact. Three a season would be the sweet spot for me.
The thing is, we get another one in Rd 17. It's crazy!

Bedford threatening to go to the draft if St Kilda refuse the trade, and with North, Richmond, West Coast, and Adelaide all suggesting they would not select Bedford, he may slide to St Kilda's pick.

I’ve heard bedford is talking about going back to Port Melbourne in the VFL as an orange boy.

More to come.

What does that make 2018* for us then?

Five players we got from that draft now in our best 22.

I don't reckon there would be too many examples of five players taken in the same draft even lasting six years on a list together, let alone all being in the team together six years later!

*According to Wikipedia, the rookie draft and pre-season supplementary period are both counted as being part of that off-season's draft.
In total we have six from that draft if we include JJ.

In the conversation for greatest draft of all time I reckon even though it's too soon to say.

We also have another from that draft in our best 22: JJ. (Edit: Sorry, Jewels, I see you scooped me on this one.)

Maybe the year GWS started and had a huge number of draft picks including in the first round would be another example?

The greatest draft of all time is GWS in the 2011 draft with draftees having 2184 games played.

The next closest is 2010 Gold Coast with 1556.

The worst is Brisbane in 2001 with 3 games.

Thanks, I didn't mean it was our greatest draft of all time (although it may well have been - but I wouldn't be using games played as the metric, I think you have to divide that number by picks taken, although that's still not optimal).

I was meaning that draft class is arguably the GOAT draft class across the competition. 2004 is the most obvious rival.

And we have two of the top ten players from it.

I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with three (I'm a huge McInerney fan and think he has another level he can go to.)
